Take Five with Alinta Chidzey

:: Do you have a favourite musical? ::
I think this [West Side Story] would have to be one of the favourite ones, to be honest.

:: Is there a character that you’d give anything to play? ::
Oh. Um… (thinks) I’d love to play Velma in Chicago. That is one I would love to play, for sure.

:: What is the most memorable production or performance you have seen?
Something that really inspired you. ::

Recently, Sharon Millerchip [as Roxy Hart] in Chicago. She really stole it for me. She was fantastic.

:: Favourite recording artist, or singer? ::
Joni Mitchell.

:: Favourite album? ::
Blue (laughs)

:: Favourite food? ::

:: Favourite drink? ::
Ah… Ginger Beer!

:: Favourite season? ::

:: Recommend a good book: ::
Ah… I really loved The Time Traveller’s Wife. I haven’t seen the film, but apparently people are like, “The films not so good!” I’m like, “Damn. Why do they do that?”

:: Recommend a film: ::
A recent one, Away We Go.

:: Recommend a play: ::
A straight play… One that I haven’t seen but I really want to see is Osage County [August: Osage County by Tracey Letts]. Yeah, I wasn’t around for that one. Everyone says it’s amazing. I’ve read the play and I thought it was fantastic.

West Side Story plays at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC until December 5, 2010.
