ARIA Chart News, w/c 29 June 2009

This week sees the domination of The Black Eyed Peas continue, as they break Madonna’s 1985 record to become the first act in twenty four years to replace themselves at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart. “I Gotta Feeling” becomes the group’s sixth number one single, putting them on equal footing with Eminem and Kylie Minogue, with only Delta Goodrem earning more No. 1’s (8) this decade. “Boom Boom Pow” drops to #2 after having spent a huge six weeks at the top.

Hilltop Hoods continue to hold strong at #1 on the ARIA Album Chart with their album “State Of The Art”, becoming the first Australian artist to spend multiple weeks at number one since Silverchair’s “Young Modern” in 2007. They have gone one better than their 2006 debut album “The Hard Road”, which spent one week in the number one position.

ARIA Chart News, w/c 15 June 2009

Karnivool debuts at #2 with their album “Sound Awake”.

The Black Eyed Peas debut at number one on this week’s ARIA Album Chart with their new album “THE E.N.D”, earning the group their third ARIA #1 album following “Elephunk” in 2004 and “Monkey Business” in 2005. Their single “Boom Boom Pow” spends its fifth week at one on the ARIA Singles Chart and sixth on top of the digital track chart, becoming their second longest running singles chart topper behind “Where Is The Love” which chalked up six weeks in 2003.

ARIA Chart News, w/c 8 June 2009

Eskimo Joe’s fourth album “Inshalla” has debuted at number one on this week’s ARIA Album Chart, mirroring the success of their third album “Black Fingernails, Red Wine” which debuted at number one nearly three years ago, on June 19, 2006. In doing so “Inshalla”, already certified Gold, becomes the 138th Australian number one album!

ARIA Chart News, w/c 1 June 2009

Eminem’s album “Relapse”, already certified Platinum, has held at number one on the ARIA Album Chart for a second week as Black Eyed Peas hold at one on the singles chart with “Boom Boom Pow” for a third consecutive week, whilst chalking up four weeks on top of the digital track chart.

Green Day holds at 2 with “21st Century Breakdown” on the ARIA Album Chart this week, and it’s the touring artists who make a big impact on the top 10 – P!nk up to #3 with “Funhouse”, Lady Gaga up to #6 with “The Fame” and Pussycat Dolls up to #8 from 17 with “Doll Domination 2.0”.

ARIA Chart News, w/c 25 May 2009

In a two-way tussle for top spot, Eminem has debuted at number one with “Relapse” on this week’s ARIA Album Chart. It has earned him his fifth Australian number one, coming after only five days of sales, and a cumulative career total of twelve weeks at number one on the album chart. The only other act to achieve five number one albums this decade is U2. Green Day has debuted at #2 with “21st Century Breakdown”, their eighth album and seventh to hit the top 10 here in Australia, and it’s the first time since May last year that we’ve had new releases debut at one and two.

Eminem has notched up more number one singles than any other male artist in the history of the ARIA Charts, as “We Made You” swoops past Back Eyed Peas to the top of the ARIA Singles Chart this week. Ronan Keating continues his domination of the ARIA Album Chart as “Songs For My Mother” stays at number one for a third consecutive week, holding out Andre Rieu who debuts at #2 with “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. Black Eyed Peas takes over top spot on the ARIA Digital Track Chart with “Boom Boom Pow”, with the physical release of this single imminent.

SIMON & GARFUNKEL IN CONCERT @ Brisbane Entertainment Centre – 17 June 2009

What was called an early Valentine’s gift for New York fans, today became a love letter penned exclusively for Australia and New Zealand.

Simon & Garfunkel, ranked among the greatest artists of all time, are to tour the Antipodes for eight concerts in June promoter Michael Chugg, Executive Chairman of Chugg Entertainment, announced today.

The world’s first and only confirmed 2009 tour dates for the beloved duo; the news comes just weeks after their surprise three-song performance at New York’s Beacon Theatre on Valentine’s eve.

Having not visited Australia for more than 25 years, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel will kick off their antipodean tour in New Zealand playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Saturday June 13.
