Gossling – new single ‘WILD LOVE’, new shows and new EP ‘INTENTIONAL LIVING’

Fresh from her main stage performance at Falls Festival and jam-packed Big Top appearance at Southbound, Gossling (aka Helen Croome) has revealed plans for her new single, EP and several live performances in the coming months.

Following the success of Gossling’s second EP “Until Then” and focus track ‘I Was Young’, Gossling is set to dominate the airwaves once again this Summer with new single ‘Wild Love’. Co-written with Dann Hume (Evermore, Lisa Mitchell), ‘Wild Love’ was unleashed on February 13 (2012). Groovin’ The Moo 2012 line-up update: Chiddy Bang cancel.

Groovin’ The Moo line-up update: Chiddy Bang cancel.
Ball Park Music joins the tribe.

Groovin’ the Moo (GTM) regrets to announce Chiddy Bang will no longer be part of the GTM 2012 National tour. Unfortunately they have chosen to cancel their Australian commitments preferring to focus on new TV and radio promotional opportunities for their upcoming album in the USA.

This decision is very disappointing and totally out of our control. However GTM is very pleased to announce that J Award Unearthed Artist of the Year winners Ball Park Music will be joining the GTM tour.

Tour News: The Exploited – Australia & New Zealand Tour | April 2012

This April, riot starting, bouncer bashing, cop baiting, hotel trashing, foul talking, noise making, chaos causing, venue wrecking, government hating, rule breaking, piss taking, unrelenting, punk rock band THE EXPLOITED bring their politically charged live show to East Coast Australia and Auckland.

THE EXPLOITED announce another support act for their Melbourne show in April. Local four-piece hardcore street punk band, The Worst, join the Melbourne line up at The Corner Hotel, alongside hard punk rock outfit Chainsaw Hookers – who will join The Exploited in all three cities – and rock ’n roll juggernauts, Wolfpack.

Coast three-piece, The Scam complete the Brisbane bill and Sydney’s home-town rhythm driven, noisy guitar three piece, skinpin will get the Manning Bar off to a pounding start.

The Exploited are not ‘punkers’ or any of the other cutesy, watered down, TV friendly names you might want to call them. The Exploited are punk rock.

Formed in 1979, the quartet created a simple, no-frills sound characterized by speed and aggression. Led by vocalist Wattie Buchan, The Exploited is one of the UK’s most politically outspoken thrash bands, who has built a strong and loyal following both at home and abroad for its anti-authoritarian stance and criticism of the government, particularly in the Reagan/Thatcher era.

Interview: Al Marx – The Fearless Vampire Killers

Interview: Stuart Blythe
The Fearless Vampire Killers are hitting the road thoughout March (2012) with their Batmania tour. We caught up with TFVK guitarist Al Marx for a chat. Al gave us an interesting and humorous insight into TFVK.

LMM: Tell us a little about The Fearless Vampire Killers

Al Marx : I have a little birthmark below the waist, Sean used to be a pro scooterer, Jacob’s fluent in every language and Justin shot J.F.K.

LMM: You’re debut LP, “Batmania” has enjoyed rave reviews.
For fans who haven’t yet heard “Batmania”, how would you describe the sound and the vibe? Were you channelling any musical influences at the time of production?

Al Marx : It’s good, I like it. Musical influences are a bit of a no-no as far as we’re concerned. We have music we love and we play how we like to play. We focus on writing good songs, and playing with all our hearts. If you can actually pinpoint a specific influence, you’re not doing your job right.

LMM: In 2011 you toured with Lanie Lane, how was that experience?

Al Marx : It was funny, you’ve got to have fun right? We got to stay in Sydney for a few nights, and it’s rare to stay in the one place on tour. It let us put our roots down and get a little loose.

LMM: You’re about to kick off on a nation headline tour. What can fans expect at the shows?

Al Marx : We’ve worked a bit of trapeze into the set. Sean and I even do a bit of the performance with no net, because we’re badass. Jacob has beefed up his juggling act and bowing to the demands of animal rights groups has removed the poodle grand finale.

LMM: Have you got any pre-show routines/superstitions?

Al Marx : I know it sounds gross but i generally don’t like to shower in the day before a gig. I like to feel gritty, and I sweat like a pig onstage anyway. I also find someone to hold my phone before i play. Jackie Stewart used to do the same with his watch, so it’s a bit of an nod to the greats.

LMM: Which bands did you grow up with, and who still inspires you now?

Al Marx : We all grew up with the classics – The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, etc. Right now i think our biggest interest is in the great Spaghetti Western soundtracks of Ennio Morricone.

LMM: With “For You & Me” on the American TV series 90210… do you have any plans to tour internationally?

Al Marx : There’s plans and there’s dreams. I think we’re still in the day-dream stage, but we are making some steps for that possibility in the future. We play better inter-state, imagine how we’ll be internationally.

LMM: Is there anything you would like to say to your growing fan base?

Al Marx : We love you all, thank you so much for your support. Just remember to look both ways before you cross the street, and don’t put plastic bags in your recycling.

Tour News: LANIE LANE “Bangity Bang” National Headline Tour | May-June 2012

LANIE LANE is delighted to announce her BANGITY BANG national Australian tour this coming May.

The past 12 months have been the stuff of dreams for Lanie, with pretty much everything a girl could reasonably wish for coming true. In no particular order this includes: recording with Jack White in Nashville; signing with Ivy League Records; seeing her debut album To The Horses enter the ARIA charts at #12; playing her first sold out national tour plus slots on a string of top notch festivals; gracing the covers of countless quality publications; tours of the US and UK; winning the FBi Radio SMAC Award for Record of the Year, and perhaps most importantly, having the time of her life whilst doing it all.

SEAL’S SOUL 2 AUSTRALIAN TOUR – April 2012

We are sad to announce that Seal’s scheduled shows in Perth and Canberra will unfortunately not proceed, due to ongoing scheduling conflicts with Seal’s international and Australian work schedule.

A spokesman for Seal explained: “Due to further adjustments to Seal’s hectic touring and filming schedule while in Australia, we’ve had to make the difficult decision not to proceed with these two shows. However, the remaining shows in Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Sydney will definitely proceed as scheduled.”

STEVE EARLE – Bluesfest 2012 Sideshows | March-April 2012

Singer-songwriter, actor, author, political activist, producer – STEVE EARLE is one of life’s great troubadours!!! STEVE EARLE hasn’t wandered this way for a number of years…. In fact … it’s been three albums & and three Grammy Awards since we saw him last. He will be touring around Australia and you can catch him in Melbourne, Adelaide, Newcastle, Sydney or Byron Bay for BLUESFEST.

A protégé of legendary songwriters Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, STEVE EARLE quickly became a master storyteller in his own right, with his songs being recorded by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, Travis Tritt, The Pretenders, Joan Baez and countless others. 1986 saw the release of his debut record, Guitar Town, which shot to number one on the country charts and immediately established the term “New Country.” What followed was an extremely exciting and varied array of releases including the biting hard rock ofCopperhead Road (1988), the minimalist beauty of Train A Comin’ (1995), the politically charge masterpiece,Jerusalem (2002) and the three Grammy Award Winning albums The Revolution Starts…Now (2004), Washington Square Serenade (2007) and Townes (2009).

Seasick Steve – Bluesfest 2012 Sideshows

SEASICK STEVE is back!! – with John Paul Jones in his band- a new album – and even perhaps a new direction and he’s heading our way. As well as a special BLUESFEST appearance SEASICK STEVE will be taking on Melbourne & Sydney in April 2012.

His new album ; You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks showcases not only SEASICK STEVE‘S signature array of classic blues styles – but also previously unheard styles of Steve’s; from Appalachian mountains and down home Kentucky Bluegrass to Nashville country gospel via Greenwich Village coffee house folk balladry.

Given the aural evidence of his back catalogue, classifying Steve as a blues artist is pretty understandable, but it does do him a slight disservice. His material, like his life, is drawn from a long rich history of experience and a broad palette of influences. “I got so many damned songs, it’s like a big old train and only part of them get into the station,” Steve affirms. “The rest of them are just waiting for the next station.”

10cc Australian Tour 2012 | Tour Details

The missing link between The Beatles and the Gorillaz, 10cc ruled the pop world at a time – the 1970s – when the charts were dominated by some of the most creative and colourful artists in pop history.

Unlike David Bowie, Queen, Elton John or Rod Stewart – all of whom they stood shoulder-to-shoulder with for a decade – 10cc worked not on image or celebrity-status, but on the art of making highly sophisticated rock masterworks into simple-sounding pop hits.

As founding member Graham Gouldman says, “Our main influences were The Beatles and the Beach Boys. Then there was all the other stuff …” “For me it was people like Burt Bacharach and Hal David, Jimmy Webb, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers. Eric [Stewart] was more rock ’n’ roll, the blues and R&B; while Kevin [Godley] and Lol [Creme] were sort of Jacques Brel, more artistic and avant-garde. “
