After the band’s first national tour as part of Soundwave 2008, mewithoutYou head back to Australia for an east coast tour to perform tracks from their latest and self-released album Ten Stories and the rest of their huge back catalogue of favourites spanning over the last decade and beyond. mewithoutYou have also revealed that, they’ll be giving fans a taste of brand new material from their forthcoming untitled 6th studio album, due for release in Late Spring / Early Summer 2015.
Hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the five-piece rock band is renowned for spoken word vocals and free-ranging drums, bass and guitars fronted by the enigmatic and eccentric singer, Aaron Weiss. The bands first LP A—>B Life was released in 2002, quickly followed up with the highly successful Catch for Us the Foxes in 2004, then followed up with Brother Sister in 2006, before the band went down a completely different path to satisfy singer Aaron Weiss’ creative wanderlust on It’s All crazy! It’s All False! It’s All a Dream! It’s Alright! in 2009. Returning to their roots in 2012 for most recent released LP Ten Stories, the band have spent most of 2014 touring the US promoting the record along, with celebrating the 10th anniversary Catch for Us the Foxes, performing the album live from start to finish as a final look back over the past decade, before moving forward onto their new musical journey.
Musically, Ten Stories is a mix of the brazen noisiness, hypnotic soundscapes, and derelict shouting of their old songs, the dead-level melody and extravagant orchestration, and a newfound reliance on ethereal harmonies, courtesy en masse of female guest vocalists including Paramore’s Hayley Williams. Daniel Smith’s production and veteran Brad Wood’s mixing combine to improve upon the best sonic elements of the bands past releases.
