Jordy Maxwell – Reveals Stirring New Single ‘Let Me Out’

Boorloo/Perth-based indie-folk artist Jordy Maxwell has returned with his touching new single ‘Let Me Out‘ – produced by Andy Lawson (Noah DillonDeath By DenimEskimo Joe).

Beginning with solemn acoustic guitars and Jordy’s caressing voice, ‘Let Me Out’ is a poised voyage from tranquillity to upheaval, decorated by a gorgeously crafted soundscape. As the track progresses, laden with delicate chords and ethereal melodies, the addition of percussion and strings elevate the song towards its cathartic finale, with the change in pace and energy nodding towards the song’s themes of transformation.

Jordy talks about the process behind ‘Let Me Out’:
“‘Let Me Out’ started as a phone recording and some seriously silly lyrics. After listening back, the chord progression and melody were kept, and the song evolved from a simple, sweet start, into a massive build-up and release. With the help of the violins and drums, I wanted to create momentum in the back end of the song that inspires and motivates. The song is a journey of feeling so trapped in life, whether it be a location, a relationship, or work and eventually being able to release yourself from what’s dragging you away from what you love. It’s a song I hope can inspire people to make a change if they feel they need it in their life.”

Jordy Maxwell will be supporting Jack Botts on his national tour throughout March and April. In the live arena, Jordy has sold out a number of headline shows, reaching ticket sales of 400 in Boorloo/Perth, 200 in Naarm/Melbourne, and 130 in Tandanya/Adelaide. He has also shared the stage with The Dreggs and Kim Churchill.

Having started writing and performing music since 2016, Jordy Maxwell has combined his creative capabilities with his depth of emotional knowledge and humour to set himself apart from folk performers. Taking cues from the likes of Angus StoneGang of Youths and Ball Park Music, his discography has accumulated over 18 million streams, and led him to being triple j Unearthed Feature Artist.
