Three studio albums later and THE KILLERS have stamped their mark on the world. With a signature synth-heavy sweeping, epic sound, we can’t wait to see these guys bring their spectacular stage show to Good Vibrations Festival! Are we dancer…yes we are! Formed in Las Vegas in 2002, the band belongs to the lineage of high-energy bands that manage to be both commercially successful and critically acclaimed, and it’s almost mind-blowing to consider that without the classifieds section of a local paper, they might have never been. They will be performing a greatest hits set so we get to see all the best bits of The Killers – dare we say all Killer and no Filler?! www.myspace.com/thekillers

Where’s our head at? Our head is with BASEMENT JAXX! This talented duo consists of Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe and they have just released their fifth album, Scars – a return to the kind of form that saw them blow dance music apart in the late ’90s/early ’00s, with tracks such as Red Alert, Romeo and Where’s Your Head At. From respected London DJ’s to globetrotting, spectacular live act, Basement Jaxx have built a reputation that is unrivalled in the world of dance music. It’s more of a virtual carnival than a gig!

Whilst they’d been making Scars, they heard the smash hit track Bonkers by Armand Van Helden and it struck a chord. “At last a track that sounded really alive” says Felix. “Dance music started to feel a bit more up. It seemed like you could be happy in clubs again, which was good for us … We came out of our cloud and realised we wanted to make something that could be played in clubs.” They stopped trying to fight who they were, realising that big, up-tempo club music is what they’re good at, not to mention what people want! www.myspace.com/basementjaxx

A man of many music styles and never one to follow trends, ARMAND VAN HELDEN was there in the 80s, he revived hip-house in the late 90s and he wanted your soul in 2007. But right now, his dial is tuned to electro that’s currently hotter than Brooklyn in the middle of August. It’s this quest, this stabbing in the dark that makes his recent music so intriguing. Try and pigeonhole him into one genre and you’ll fail miserably. He’s made tribal house, soul-flavoured garage, straight-up electro-house and pop-flavoured rock for himself. He’s a man on a mission; he just doesn’t quite know what. What he does know, however, is the importance of digging in the crates and digging different scenes without actually being a part of any one of them. Armand is a true dance music pioneer giving us genre defining tunes like his #1 hit You Don’t Know Me, NYC Beat, My, My, My and currently his much hyped project Duck Sauce is destroying the club charts! Van Helden is also the man behind Bonkers, undoubtedly one of the year’s biggest tunes and he has plenty in store for us all in the new decade! www.myspace.com/armandvanhelden

Genre-bending DIY post-punk indie-funk trio GOSSIP couldn’t be hotter right now! Lead singer Beth Ditto was recently named both the ‘coolest woman on the planet’ (the Independent) and NME magazine’s Coolest Person in Rock…that’s pretty awesome! They bring a new level of lyrical power and musical sophistication to their ever-evolving, always-electrifying sound and sensibility on Music For Men. It is one of the biggest albums of the year. First track Heavy Cross stormed up the charts and was heavily played on radio around the country. There’s nothing confusing about the trio’s musical approach: direct and visceral, pulsing with a raw and unapologetic animal energy, drummer Hannah Blilie’s propulsive rhythms interlocking with Brace Paine’s heart-pounding riffs and charismatic lead singer Beth Ditto’s impassioned and cathartic vocals. The journey from 2006’s Standing in the Way of Control to Music For Men has been a wild ride for the Gossip to one of the world’s most exciting and infectious live acts of the last decade! www.myspace.com/gossipband

One of the most respected and consistent urban acts of the last 18 years is the energetic and formidable live force of BUSTA RHYMES. Clearly, Busta Rhymes is not your average, everyday, run-of-the-mill MC. He moves between Hip Hop and pop worlds with a collection of collaborations to his name and still manages to stay edgy. Busta knows how to manage pressure. As a matter of fact, he thrives on it. It is one of the things that has propelled his explosive career into international superstar status. Busta is a certified legend in the Hip Hop world and has worked with everyone from Rap legends A Tribe Called Quest and Dr Dre to Pop icons such as Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey (including their #1 hit I Know What You Want). His irrepressible stage presence and performance is second to none in the rap game and he will bring a whole new level of party to the roots stage at GVF! www.myspace.com/bustarhymes

Say hello to FRIENDLY FIRES – one of the most exciting, blogged about, raved about new bands in the world right now! Last year, a super limited seven-inch, Paris, was judged to be the single of the week in both the NME and The Guardian and it’s not hard to see what all the fuss is about! Ed Macfarlane (vocals, synths, bass), Edd Gibson (guitar) and Jack Savidge (drums) met at school and formed their first band when they were 14. There’s a dance influence clearly audible in Friendly Fires. Photobooth, written in 2006, was the first song that combined the dance and rock sides of their character. From then on it was all up – their self titled debut album itself going gold in the UK, a string of sold-out UK tours to their name and a stand out act at Coachella this year, as well as a nomination for ‘Best Dancefloor Filler’ at the NME Awards. Get ready to welcome energetic Friendly Fires back to Australia. Believe the hype. They’re on it. They Promise. www.myspace.com/friendlyfires

They weren’t just the first, SALT-N-PEPA were pioneers who showed the industry that women in the rap game were more than just window dressing or a gimmick. Cheryl James (Salt) and Sandy Denton (Pepa), established a standard with their string of hits, including Push It, Shake Your Thang, Shoop, and Whatta Man, and a social responsibility that paved the way for the likes of TLC, En Vogue, and others. They added a new DJ, Spinderella (Deidre “Dee Dee” Roper), to the group before recording their second album. But it was their third album which saw Let’s Talk About Sex become their biggest hit and it catapulted them to the forefront of the national discussion about safe sex and AIDS. Salt-N-Pepa’s fourth album, Very Necessary, was released in 1993. On this album, Salt-N-Pepa flexed their independence and it showed but it was None of Your Business, which captured the 1995 Grammy for Best Rap Performance. S’n’P broke up at the height of their success in 1997, but thankfully for us reformed 10 years later and are ready to once again “Talk about Sex”! www.myspace.com/saltnpepaforever

Z-TRIP is one of the best live performance DJs in history, agreed by both fans and peers alike! It’s a fact that many call him the “godfather of mash-ups”, as he is one of the originators of the genre. He is a DJ, a producer, a remixer; is there anything this guy can’t do?! Worldwide sold out shows would be enough for most DJs, but not Z-Trip. Please do not call him a celebrity DJ. His career is too full of impressive milestones for that. Victory Lap his last album has done over 500,000 copies and DJ Times magazine and Pioneer Pro DJ recently voted Z-Trip as America’s Best DJ for 2009! It’s hard to paint a complete picture of Z-Trip with words alone. He thrilled Good Vibrations Festival audiences when he performed a few years back and it was a highlight of the roots stage, which also included a guest spot from Supernatural MC. After he tore the roof off the roots stage the public demanded we invite him back to blow us all away again! If you didn’t catch him last time, do yourself a favour and do not miss out this time around! www.myspace.com/djztrip

KID CUDI is one of the year’s most-noted breakthrough artists, he is an exciting fresh talent and he is on Good Vibrations Festival! This is going to be one amazing ride for his first major tour of Australia. The phenomenal hit Day ‘N’ Nite was what brought Kid Cudi to everyone’s attention and now the current single Make Her Say featuring Kanye West, Lady Gaga and Common is gaining huge attention while he also releases his debut album MAN on the MOON: the END of DAY. Having repeatedly promised a unique, adventurous and experimental work while his singles achieved months of rare all-format success, the Cleveland, Ohio native Cudi, now residing in New York, has drawn immediate praise in early press reviews, Nominated as best new artist in this year’s BET Awards and MTV’s Video Music Awards, Kid Cudi could not be much hotter right now. We are waiting day and night for this performance! http://www.myspace.com/kidcudi

HIPHOP HOORAY!… HO!… HEEEEYYYY!… HO! The Hip Hop Anthem… NAUGHTY BY NATURE invented it! The Grammy Award winning, Platinum-album selling, New Jersey super-group, Naughty By Nature, has a twenty-year track record of creating the hits and party anthems that have become the soundtrack to our lives. Their music has smashed through mainstream barriers all the while remaining true to the sound, message and grit of the ‘hood. And now, these three kings of the Hip Hop anthem – Treach, Vin Rock and DJ Kay Gee -have formally reunited and claimed their title naming their forthcoming reunion album, Anthem Inc. in celebration. In October 2008 Vh1 bestowed their coveted “Hip Hop Honor” to the group as innovators of the culture. When Naughty By Nature tells you that they mean business, you’d better hold on – because this time around, it’s gonna be one hell of a ride. You down with O.P.P?! www.myspace.com/naughtybynaturecom

Over the course of their career, quintessential production/DJ duo Plump DJs have become bona fide heavyweights of cutting edge club music with superlative albums and over a dozen club hits! Coming to prominence off the back of the Breakbeat movement, Andy Gardener and Lee Rous have recently been incorporating elements of Electro and Techno into their sound too and are now firmly established as one of the most in-demand festival acts in the World. Their debut mix album A Plump Night Out that carved their name deep into the soul of dance music – they were transformed from promising breakbeat contenders into dance music’s big league heavy hitters. They were handpicked to support Orbital on tour and soon became an international success playing to crowds of up to 30,000. Holed up in a stew of their own creativity, Lee & Andy have assembled an arsenal of tracks with quiet confidence and DJs, producers and fans alike wait for the next chapter of their odyssey. The Plump DJs have only ever known one direction and that’s up. www.myspace.com/plumpdjs

When childhood friends Travis McCoy and drummer Matt McGinley decided to start a band in upstate New York over a decade ago, they could have never anticipated how successful GYM CLASS HEROES would eventually become. How could they have predicted having a record setting #1 single with Cupid’s Chokehold or taking home the trophy for Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards? And yet they take it all in their stride and use it as a source of inspiration. If you thought Gym Class Heroes were difficult to categorize in the past, with their latest release, The Quilt, it’s become almost impossible – in the best way imaginable. In fact, the follow-up to 2006’s gold-selling As Cruel As School Children doesn’t just see the band expanding on their unique blend of hip-hop, rock, soul and punk, but transcending it. Maybe we’ll even see collaboration at Good Vibrations Festival as Busta Rhymes makes an enthusiastic guest appearance on the track Peace Sign/Index Down! www.myspace.com/gymclassheroes

There are not many artists that can claim both Hip Hop royalty – such as Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg and D’n’B legends like Andy C and Pendulum as fans…but for CHASE & STATUS that’s all part of the game! Recently hailed as ‘The most exciting producers in the UK today’ by Pharrell Williams and ‘the backbone’ of the new Rihanna album, Chase & Status are ready for level: next! Their live show is an exciting thrill ride through Hip Hop, Dubstep, Electro and Drum & Bass featuring an incredible full band set up! Looking forward to 2010, they have already started working on new material for their festival appearance! www.myspace.com/chaseandstatus

In 25 years of making and breaking beats, DAVE SEAMAN has seen dance music from all sides. In that time he has made his mark as DJ, producer, record label head, magazine editor, and even had a brief stint as a model! DJing is his first love, and it’s taken him to all five continents in the name of filling a dance floor. He was one of the first DJs to make a CD compilation, mixing the first Mixmag compilation with Carl Cox, a springboard for numerous sets for Renaissance, Global Underground and Audio Therapy. Seaman also produced for the likes of Kylie Minogue and Pet Shop Boys. How’s that for multi-tasking! Seaman’s latest releases still have the pioneering spirit, from the clever samples of Josh Gabriel collaboration Heyaah to a recent co-production with Andy Chatterley ‘K Conundrum’, already in the sets of John Digweed, Pete Tong and Eric Prydz. www.myspace.com/daveseaman

When a young DJ CRAZE told his mum he was going to be the best DJ in the world, we’re sure even she had her doubts. Well, Craze beat the odds (and everyone else) taking the DMC World Championships crown 3 times in a row! Since then, whenever he steps behind the decks his unique blend of mashed up sweaty lo-end dance floor music is impossible to resist! On top of DJ Craze’s untouchable turntablist skills and scratch champion showmanship, the world has also recognised that Craze is a second to none club DJ – he has toured the globe over, from Jamaica to Japan to Iceland to France to the country he was born, Nicaragua. This is Craze. www.myspace.com/crazearoni

CHUCKIE has become a phenomenon in The Netherlands and his rich musical past as DJ & producer is what sets him apart as one of the House scene’s elite. Chuckie’s been frequently referred to as the ‘mix-king’, primarily due to his unique ability to weave various styles and genres together effortlessly and without compromise. These traits along with his energetic presence have led him to break international boundaries. Chuckie has taken his unique dirty house sound around Europe including major festivals as Mysteryland, Loveland, Dance Valley and his own pride and joy Dirty Dutch. Good Vibrations Festival 2010 is a sure fire way for Chuckie to further engrave himself on the international music map upon which he’s navigated himself throughout the years. With his current party banger Let The Bass Kick featuring Jermaine Dupri and remixes for a-list artists such as Akon and LMFAO dominating the clubs, Chuckie’s status is rapidly shifting from ‘the one to watch’ to ‘the one’! www.myspace.com/djchuckie

Sydney’s ART vs SCIENCE formed in early 2008, one month before Jim Finn (keys/vox), Dan Mac (keys/guitar/vox) and Dan W (drums/vox) took out an unearthed competition off the back of the impossibly catchy track Flippers that marked them as ones to watch. They have honed their sound – part pop, part French-inspired electro, with a healthy infusion of rock – at numerous festival and gig appearances including Good Vibrations Festival in Sydney in 2009 and both their first headline national tour in May 2009 and their extensive August national tour completely sold-out. Art vs Science’s self-released, self-titled debut EP reached #6 on the iTunes charts (#1 Dance Album), thanks in no small part to the thumping party track Parlez-Vous Francais? www.myspace.com/artvsscience

BASS KLEPH has one of the hottest, most in demand, individual sounds of now. An edgy take on Jackin’ Tech/Electro & House that has one foot firmly in the underground, but with a pop sensibility that everyone can connect with. It’s somewhere between the melodic and the raw, but it always features a cool, sexy, ‘less is more’ approach. The commercial and club success of $pend My Money (feat Stellar MC) in Australia has catapulted him into the top echelons of Aussie talent (he jumped 26 places to # 10 nationally in the ITM Top 50 DJ in 2009) and has firmly cemented his position as ‘one to watch’ on the international stage. In January 2009, Bass Kleph mixed and toured the Platinum selling Ministry of Sound Clubbers Guide to 2009. With no signs of slowing down as 2009 draws to its end, expect to see new material from Bass Kleph coming out soon with the hugely anticipated Sunshine feat Gotye being released in early 2010…just in time for GVF! www.myspace.com/basskleph

Although best known as the singer on Tim Deluxe’s massive hit It Just Won’t Do, SAM OBERNIK is far from a one trick pony. She’s recorded and toured with Bryan Ferry, played guitar in Britney Spears’ band and lent her vocal talents to big name producers Dave Spoon & Paul Harris (Baditude) and Linus Loves (Stand Back). Off the success of her critically acclaimed Barefoot project, Sam is back in the studio with Sharam Jey, Alex Gaudino, Dirty Vegas and many more, so expect to hear big things from this little lady soon! www.myspace.com/obernik

KILLAQUEENZ are one of the most promising Hip Hop acts coming out of Australia right now. They are renowned for their high energy live shows and unrivalled dedication to the art and they impressed us so much in Sydney in 2009 we invited them back to perform nationally! Hailing from Uganda and Belize, Kween G and Belizean Bombshell draw inspiration from their respective homelands to bring a fresh sound to the Australian Hip Hop scene. Their live performance consists of rhymes, beat boxing, dancing and the raw energy that only KQ can deliver. The result is a show that leaves you wanting more. Expect the unexpected and keep it locked for KillaQueenz! www.myspace.com/killarqueenz

Good Vibrations Festival 2010 master of ceremonies is none other than SLIMKID 3 from THE PHARCYDE, who were one of the standout acts of Good Vibrations Festival 2009 when they reunited last year.
