The Cherry Bar in AC/DC Lane Melbourne, after 8 years of hosting Australia’s only street rock n festival, has boldly decided to come to Sydney in 2014
And in a remarkable coup, in their first tour to Australia in over twenty years the incendiary Meat Puppets (USA) will co-headline CherryRock014 Sydney at The Factory in their ONLY Sydney date, now sharing the top of the bill with Brant Bjork.
The Kirkwood Brothers were made famous when, just 138 days before his tragic death in 1993, Kurt Cobain invited them to perform with him on MTV Unplugged and Nirvana covered three classic Meat Puppets’ songs, ‘Plateau’, ‘Oh Me’ and ‘Lake of Fire’. Meat Puppets haven’t played in Australia for 20 years.
Brant Bjork is revered for his impeccable stoner rock pedigree in KYUSS and Fu Manchu on drums. Brant Bjork has taken lead vocals and guitar via the Californian Desert to a new transcendental high on his seminal stoner albums ‘Somera Sol’, ‘Punk Rock Guilt’ and ‘Gods & Goddesses’. The man is an icon and is as cool as the midnight desert.
CherryRock014 Sydney is the first CherryRock “street” rock n’ roll festival outside of AC/DC Lane and the iconic Cherry Bar, and will run at The Factory from 2pm till 11.30pm on Saturday 31 May with some 14 acts playing across 2 stages, inside and outside. Other confirmed acts include Redcoats, Gay Paris, Beastwars (NZ), Drunk Mums, Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk, King of The North, Child, Bitter Sweet Kicks, The Harlots, Don Fernando and now Hell City Glamours and The Lockhearts.
Cherry Owner and Booker James Young reflects poignantly, “I want CherryRock to work in Sydney. Meat Puppets and Brant Bjork’s ONLY show in Sydney plus a dozen other hand-picked incredible rock acts, all for $60.
