David Guetta holds at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart as The Black Eyed Peas return to #1 on the album chart

David Guetta holds on to top spot on the ARIA Singles Chart for the third week running with his first ARIA No.1 single “Sexy Bitch” (feat. Akon), just managing to hold off Guy Sebastian, who’s single “Like It Like That” moves up two places to No. 2 this week. Blasting back into number one position on the ARIA Album Chart this week is The Black Eyed Peas with “The E.N.D.”, the album returning to the top of the chart for the first time since debuting there twelve weeks ago.

In further ARIA Singles Chart news, Cobra Starship featuring Leighton Meester cracks a top 5 single, with “Good Girls Go Bad” moving up three places to #5 this week. “The Boy Does Nothing” by UK artist Alesha Dixon jumps a huge nine spots to #9 this week, giving Alesha her first ARIA top 10 single following a UK #5 result with this release in November last year. Mika achieved top 10 status with each of his first three singles “Grace Kelly”, “Love Today” and “Happy Ending”, returning for a fourth such success this week as “We Are Golden” moves up from 13 to 10. Pop superstar Mariah Carey is up six spots to #13 this week, as her single “Obsessed” achieves it’s highest chart placement to date, while Shakira’s “She Wolf” makes a top 20 debut, coming in at #18. “She’s A Genius” by Jet makes the biggest top 40 leap this week, up twelve spots to #23. In addition to Shakira’s “She Wolf”, “I Wanna” by The All-American Rejects, “The Fixer” by Pearl Jam and “Run This Town” by Jay-z (feat. Rihanna & Kanye West) all make top 40 debuts this week, coming in at 26, 31 and 35 respectively.

Following The Black Eyed Peas on the ARIA Album Chart this week is UK band Arctic Monkeys, making a stellar #2 debut with their third album “Humbug”. Their debut album “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not” hit #1 in 2006 while the follow-up “Favourite Worst Nightmare” peaked at #2 in 2007. Following her successful Australian tour, Lily Allen’s album “It’s Not Me, It’s You” moves up a spot from 11 to 10, chalking up 23 weeks in the top 10!

Homegrown artists shake up the ARIA Album Chart this week … “Shaka Rock”, the third album by Aussie rockers Jet debuts impressively at #5 and gives the band their third top 5 album result. Kate Miller-Heidke jumps six spots to #6 with “Curiouser”, this result eclipsing the album’s debut position of #8 in October last year. Kisschasy‘s third album “Seizures” makes a #15 debut, and “The Essential 3.0” by John Farnham enters the chart at #18. Jessica Mauboy’s former #11 album “Been Waiting” re-enters the top 40 after 39 weeks in the chart, coming in at #26.

The top 7 tracks on the ARIA Digital Track chart mirror their positions on the singles chart this week, with David Guetta’s “Sexy Bitch” (feat. Akon) achieving it’s third consecutive week at number one.

“Hot August Night NYC” by Neil Diamond makes a No.1 debut on the ARIA Music DVD Chart this week, knocking Michael Jackson‘s “#1’s” from the top spot, as “Woodstock: 40th Anniversary Special Edition” and Andre Rieu‘s “Champagne Melodies” debut at #7 and #8 respectively.
