KARNIVOOL The ‘Sound Awake’ Tour : June 2009

Karnivool fans around Australia continue to show their undying support for the band with news that the first show of the Sound Awake tour in Brisbane on Saturday June 20 at the Tivoli has sold out. A second Brisbane show to take place at the Tivoli on Sunday June 21st is on sale now. Both Sydney shows have now sold out. See full tour details below.

In other news, on Wednesday May 6th triple j threw a special Live At The Wireless event at The Rosemount Hotel with a headline performance from Karnivool alongside local Perth wunderkids Sugar Army and triple j unearthed winners The Novacaines. It was Karnivool’s first Perth show in over a year and the band was overwhelmed with the amazing response. Eager Karnivool enthusiasts started gathering at the venue from around 3.00pm with the line up at the doors forming from 5.30pm even though doors were not scheduled to open until 7.30pm. The long queue stretched around the block from the venue and after just 30 minutes of doors opening the venue was full to capacity. It was an incredible performance and a testimony to the anticipation of their new Sound Awake album for a band who’ve built an army of avid yet patient fans. Karnivool were so impressed with Sugar Army that they’ll now join them on their Sound Awake tour in June. Sugar Army’s new single ‘Acute’ is sitting happy at number 5 on the AIR (Australian Independent Records) Independent Radio Airplay chart, and is the first taste from the band’s forthcoming debut album ‘The Parallels Amongst Ourselves’ out July 11 through Shock. A second single ‘Tongues In Cheek’s’ will be released next month and the Sound Awake tour is a great opportunity for Sugar Army fans to get a taste of their new album in the live arena.

Karnivool’s new album Sound Awake is confirmed to be released in Australia on June 5 as part of a unique worldwide partnership with Sony Music. The new partnership with Sony Music Australia has allowed the band to maintain their independence in Australia whilst getting the helping hand overseas that any Australian band needs to make waves internationally. Karnivool will build on the inroads already made in the US and UK and other territories with a release through the Sony Independent Network / Red Distribution early in 2010.
