Filmed in an inner-city suburb of Melbourne, Oh Mercy unveil the video of their new single ‘Drums’, from their forthcoming ‘Deep Heat’ album set for release August 24.
Alexander Gow on ‘Drums’, “This is a tale of cautionary romance. Musically it came out of a heavy (and continuing) Jorge Ben binge. It started off as a take on the story of ‘Hero & Leander’. Lovers living on either side of a strait called ‘Hellespont’. Leander was a champion swimmer. I finished it and then inverted some on the sentiment. For fun.”
Directed by Liam Gilmour, the man behind the band’s ‘Stay, Please Stay’ video, ‘Drums’ shows off the real Oh Mercy – the fun, the dancing and the slightly twisted humour that their friends and fans know and love. It’s an extension of the Brazilian carnival themed ‘Deep Heat’ album artwork – bright colours, vibrant and good party times! Oh Mercy crammed their friends and family into a terrace house for one hell of a party – playing the ‘Drums’ single on repeat until the early hours of the morning. This is Oh Mercy captured in full flight.
