THE LAMPLIGHTS are best known for making their audiences smile. One of things that sometimes get’s a little lost in their message of love is their individual musicianship.
Let’s face it, quite simply, THE LAMPLIGHTS shred and wail.
Like most touring bands, THE LAMPLIGHTS spend a lot of time together between soundcheck and stage time. During one of these moments of peace Australian Fingerpicking Guitar Champion Jason McGregor was challenged with the task to build a new single featuring his guitar mastery. “The River” is living proof that he was up to the task.
A few weeks later whilst touring in Victoria, Jase and Ash took a drive and ended up in King Lake. The town had been devastated by bushfires the year before and they were absolutely stunned by the extent of the devastation. Every ridge was black as far as the eye could see. The boys were awestruck by the propensity of the human spirit to never give up and had an explicit sense of the connection to place that we have as human beings. This experience was the spark for the lyrics of “The River”.
“The River” is the second single from THE LAMPLIGHTS much loved second album “What Love Is” and it’s release is cause for celebration and that means shows.
All proceeds from sales of the single will go to the Warrumbungle Shire Mayor’s Bushfire Appeal: http://www.warrumbungle.nsw.gov.au/News/Articles/Warrumbungle-Shire-Mayor-s-Bushfire-Appeal-Update
