As expected, their concluding performance at The Tivoli in Brisbane was an evening of riotous fun, insane dancing and marvellous spectacle.

MAN OVERBOARD Touring Australia with I AM VILLAIN – August/September 2011 | Touring

It’s not often a band comes along that creates, defines and inspires a legion of die hard fans, MAN OVERBOARD have done just that. Their Defend Pop Punk motto may have started out as a simple t-shirt design but has now snowballed into a movement for honesty and integrity. This attitude has catapulted the band to the forefront of the pop punk world, in a scene that in many ways has lost its DIY spirit.

Does It Offend You, Yeah? – Splendour In The Grass Sideshows (2011)

Fresh from abandoning their major label relationship and the release of their long-awaited sophomore album ‘Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You’, British electro punks Does It Offend You, Yeah? announce a series of Australian sideshows in August to coincide with their appearance at the 2011 Splendour In The Grass festival.

The 5-piece from Reading, UK, burst on to the international music scene in 2008 with the release of their debut album, ‘You Have No Idea What You’re Getting Yourself Into’.

That same year, the band became the ninth most-listened-to new band of 2008 on last.fm, was included in the Best Alternative Music list of 2008 on iTunes USA, and was crowned as the 2008 Rolling Stone Breaking Artist.

City and Colour – ‘Little Hell’ | Album Review

Review: Billy Geary

Buy: City And Colour – ‘Little Hell’ CD
Everyone has their own ‘little hells,’ whether it is losing a friend, body image or even just having a bad day. For Dallas Green, the man behind folk project City and Colour (and guitarist for post-hardcore act Alexisonfire), his little hells stem from his family and friends problems and his feeling of hopelessness. Thus, Little Hell is quite a dark exploration by Green into the darker parts of his life, his little hells, producing his most honest and compelling album to date.

Royal Chant – ‘Raise Your Glass & Collapse’ | Album Review

Review: Billy Geary

Raise Your Glass & Collapse - Royal ChantRaise Your Glass & Collapse – Royal Chant
Garage rock is nothing new in music, particularly in Australia, with bands such as British India and Jet playing it successfully for years. Due to its nature, bands don’t have a lot to work with when it comes to writing and playing garage and punk influenced music. Thus, more often that not a band’s success comes down to the energy found on the recordings and in live shows.

Despite being quite an enjoyable release, the downfall of Raise Your Glass & Collapse is that it is by no means ground breaking or original. This however, is not a problem as Royal Chant’s debut has energy by the bucket load which more than makes up for the inevitable lack of originality.
