The Falls Music & Arts Festival has put together a gigantic invite list for their 20th and 10th anniversaries, with friends from near and far journeying to our shores this summer to join in the celebrations. The following acts have just popped their RSVPs in the mail and are now preparing their party hats for Lorne and Marion Bay.

With the full festival line-up featuring over 80 first class artists each year there’s a lot to be announced as the festival draws near. Here’s another delicious taste of what’s to come…

Rapidly rising British group Bombay Bicycle Club pen songs which are full of brooding, atmospheric sounds combined with a strong indie-rock sensibility. These fashionable North Londoners have createdthree contrasting albums in as many years, churning out a kind of soft-serve sweetness that completely neutralizes your critical reasoning skills. Their latest tour de forceA Different Kind of Fix hones in on a more stripped back style of beauty, with songs like “How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep” and “Beg”, sheer cherries on the top of a majestic musical cake.

After spending the last few months writing for their next album, Perth progressive rockers Karnivool were back in Melbourne for three sold out shows. Friday night was the second show in the huge run around Australia, with Karnivool showcasing a few new tracks to tide fans over until the album’s release.

Sydney based post rockers sleepmakeswaves and Melbourne locals Redcoats were the lucky musicians selected as supports.

The wall of sound from sleepmakeswaves made for an outstanding start to the evening. Despite being entirely instrumental, the quartet quickly won over the entire crowd as they progressed through their short set. The majority of their set was taken from their 2011 album …and so we destroyed everything, with ‘To You They Are Birds, To Me They Are Voices In The Forest’ and ‘(Hello) Cloud Mountain’ being particular highlights.

Kandovan is a tourist village in the province of East Azarbaijan, near Osku and Tabriz, Iran. Its fame is due to its troglodyte dwellings. Some of the houses are at least 700 years old and are still inhabited. Kandovan is also known for its scenic beauty. A popular resort, it offers hotels and restaurants to serve tourists. Its mineral water is also popular with visitors and is believed to be a cure for kidney disease.
