Geoffrey Rush in A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum – 12 Weeks Only. Melbourne Only.

12 Weeks Only. Melbourne Only.
Her Majesty’s Theatre – From 20 October 2012

Academy®, Tony® and Emmy Award® winner Geoffrey Rush returns to his true home on stage in the absurdly funny musical A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum.

With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, under the direction of Simon Phillips (Priscilla Queen of the Desert), this shamelessly retro musical pays homage to vintage vaudeville in an orgy of classic theatrical comedy, bawdy stage high jinks and sensational slapstick.

Geoffrey Rush bounds onto stage as the scheming slave Pseudolus, attempting to win his freedom from the henpecked Senex and his overbearing wife, Domina. When he learns his master’s dim-witted son has fallen in love with a virgin courtesan, he seizes the opportunity to secure his release.

Mistaken identities, cross dressing confusion, foolish schemes and comic anarchy reign supreme as the gods of Australian comedy put their reputations on the line for a laugh.

Strip, steal, beg or bribe to get yourself a ticket – because anything can happen at the Forum….and it probably will!
