Broken Splendour – EP Launch @ The Grace Darling, Melbourne – 10 November 2012

Introducing Broken Splendour, the combination of singer songwriter Thomas Vecera and musicians Damien Ellis on drums and Adam Spiegl on bass.

Bringing the fruits of two of the worlds most musically colourful cities together from Austin Texas, USA to Melbourne, Australia, Thomas Vecera relocated as a solo artist to Australia in 2008.

Releasing two solo albums Always Going Somewhere and Strange Company, Thomas Vecera was renowned for improvising on stage, rarely performing a song the same way twice. However, it was a performance at the Maldon Folk Festival which inspired the idea of Broken Splendour, offering a new live feel and furthering the dynamics to Thomas’ sound.

Broken Splendour’s new self-titled EP is the follow up to debut EP ‘On the Bright Side’ released in 2010. Broken Splendour’s latest offering will sets hearts aflame in a combustion of new-folk and indie pop sounds. With influences ranging from old time storytelling to new and fresh bursts of musical grandiosity Broken Splendour are sure to make their statement heard.

“Little Brown Chairs” awakens the senses and invites us to stay awhile; “All Your Friends” questions directions we take in life; “Black Stars” laments the modern condition with melancholic charm; “Posters” soars with indelible melody and lead single “Love Will Wait” is an uplifting closer that sparkles on the second spin.

Touring the USA early October for a run of shows with good friend and local Maryland songster Dan Haas, Thomas will return to Aussie shores in November for the launch of ‘Broken Splendour’ in a run of shows up the east coast.

Set for independent release on October 27th, see Broken Splendour launching their highly anticipated EP on November 10th at the Grace Darling with special guests Caroline Kennedy McCracken (formerly Deadstar, The Tulips) and Tracy McNeil’s Bell St Delays.
