Emma Dean signs US Record Deal

Emma Dean has signed a contract with US independent label – Candyrat Records – for the release of her upcoming EP, “White”. In the past, the record company have focussed on promoting instrumental guitarists, including renowned Kansas born performer, Andy McKee. However, in the last few years the company have become begun to promote singer-songwriters, of varying styles, shapes, sizes and ages, that they believe display not only superb song writing and ability, but exceptional musicianship.

“I have travelled to the US twice where I was lucky enough to meet with Holly (Candyrat). I rely a lot on my gut instinct, so meeting with the company face to face was a really important step for me. Holly has become a friend as well as a significant part of my musical journey. My “White” EP is the perfect release for Candyrat, featuring stripped back, slightly off-kilter ballads about the birth of new beginnings. I consider this a great first step into the US market.”

Dean will release three highly contrasting digital EPs throughout 2013. “White” (through Candyrat Records), will feature stripped back ballads played on a wurlitzer about the birth of new beginnings; “Red” will be passionate, epic, lush, theatrical songs centered around the heart; and “Black” will be dark, sexual, jazz-influenced songs from the underground played on a slightly out-of-tune upright. Each EP has been recorded and co-produced by Emma’s long term musical collaborator, Ben Stewart.

Emma and Ben will relocate to New York in March before”White” is released in March/April.
