‘Waste Me’ is a commanding slice of frantic-paced pop, once again featuring the fervent vocal of the group’s co-lead vocalist Hannah Shepherd and bolstered by the savvy production muscle of Brisbane’s Matt Redlich (Hungry Kids of Hungary, Ball Park Music, emma louise) – it certainly is Charlie Mayfair like you’ve never heard them before. Since the percussive ‘Tell Her’ laced national and community radio airwaves, the guitars have been turned up, the drums have become more feverish and the melodies have been sharpened to pop supremacy.
And it doesn’t stop there – the forthcoming Fall In Time EP extends on the fine songwriting display their debut Watch My Hands possessed. It features not only the aforementioned power-couple of singles, but also the tribal rhythms of live favourite ‘Blue Water’ and the epic, slow-burn of ‘Stone’ – four songs that encapsulate the impressive musicanship and a band constantly progressing.
The forthcoming EP launch shows see a return to the stage for one of Brisbane’s beloved outfits. With continuing airplay and a brand spanking new EP under their belt, the rest of the country is imminent.
