Double Pass Giveaway: The Good Ship Album Launch @ The Zoo, Brisbane – 14 July 2012

This giveaway is now closed.
Thank you to everyone that entered!

The Good Ship are proud to announce the release of their second album “O’ Exquisite Corpse”, a work of dark, sweaty, heaving beauty, featuring the band’s trademark blend of sweet melodies and debauched lyrics. The Good Ship have created an album steeped in rich harmonies and lush instrumentation, all the while retaining the shambolic glory of their live show.

Two years have passed since their debut album “Avast! Wretched Sea”, a work that saw them snag a legion of dedicated fans, play to packed houses around the country, rack up over 100,000 YouTube views, and perform at major festivals including Woodford and Brisbane Festival. With “O’ Exquisite Corpse” the band expands upon their sea shanty roots and explores new territory; although there’s still enough porn and pirate to satisfy their hardcore fans.

Tour News: An Evening With The Beautiful Girls – August-October 2012

For ten years The Beautiful Girls has been the vehicle that has taken Mat. McHugh and his boot-full of songs from country to country, stage to stage and heart to heart. It’s been a decade long road trip, filled as it should, with shades of poetry that would have made Kerouac nod in approval: weariness birthing blessings, victories amidst exhaustion.

Tour News: Defeater / Blacklisted Australian Tour | September-October 2012

In what could be one of the worst kept secrets of 2012 we can now confirm Massachusetts band Defeater will indeed be returning to Australia this September just over a year since they were here last. Defeater will be joined by none other than Philadelphia’s ever evolving Blacklisted, touring Australia for the first time since 2008.

Defeater are a band that play by their own rules; they write narrative songs about fictional characters, release concept albums, mix melodic hardcore with acoustic ballads – all the while tapping into issues such as social awareness and environmental activism. Since their formation over four years ago, Defeater have released two full-lengths (2008’s Travels and 2011’s double-LP Empty Days & Sleepless Nights) and an EP (2009’s Lost Ground) that all follow a story-telling songwriting style the band has developed about a family set in post-WWII America in a working class town in New Jersey.
