Shake, Quake and Shiver the Night Away

The new wave is coming – get ready for a night of fresh, atmospheric, mysterious shiver pop. February 7th will see Brisbane’s The Zoo hosting three bands bursting with pop hooks, post-rock impact and swirls of heady reverb. Ticket proceeds from the night will be donated to Furry Friends Animal Rescue QLD, a grassroots charity dedicated to finding homes and medical care for animals. With a raffle full of band goodies also being held, this is a night that will be making a difference for an important local organization.

Brisbane has been buzzing about The Halls, with their debut self-titled EP already winning love from Triple J, 4ZZZ & the blogosphere.

Recently described as ‘shiver pop’, The Halls are a band of beautiful contrasts. Their 80s & 90s-influenced alt-pop rock flits from intricate and delicate, to sparse and epic, to grungy and trashy. Sometimes within the same song. With flowing drums, expressive guitars that solo in strange ways, soaring melodies and intense, emotive vocals, you can expect the unexpected when you visit The Halls.

2012 has seen this foursome translate the spontaneous musical magic of their jams into their live shows and debut self-titled EP. Now in 2013, The Halls are celebrating and letting loose at The Zoo February 7th, with audiences of their hometown. Physical copies of their EP will be available, with special giveaways from all bands on the night.

The Halls will be supported by the prolific Brisbane death pop of Galapogos, the all-female indie pop rock of Foxsmith (formerly Foxes), and with special acoustic opener Little Planes Land (Jennifer Boyce from Ball Park Music).
