The Colour Code – second single ‘It’s Up To Me’ (Soundcloud Stream)

THE COLOUR CODE

After whetting our appetites with their debut track ‘Alibi’ in 2014, Melbourne 4-piece The Colour Code are back with their second single ‘It’s Up To Me’, a pop-soul jam that will grab you from the first beat.

Originally spawned as part of a solo project for front man Michael Soltys, ‘It’s Up To Me’ was a surprise hit when the band took to the studio late last year to work with producer Tom Larkin (Shihad) and desk wizard, Samuel Sproull (Gatherer). Not originally earmarked for recording, the track evolved to be the highlight of the sessions after Larkin became fixated on it.

Having impressed crowds playing shows across Melbourne and Sydney to promote ‘Alibi’ the band are eager to reveal their latest offering. With Motown inspired sounds colliding with modern-pop influences, ‘It’s Up To Me’ is a call out to that familiar feeling of one’s ongoing battle between both their selfish and selfless sides. Soltys’ vocal shines with a hook-laden melody laced with hints of R&B vocal flair that give you a glimpse of his varied influences.

The drums are driving, the bass line is infectious and the sparse instrumentation is subtle with every note necessary. ‘It’s Up To Me’ is sure to gain groundswell leading in to their tour in April.
