Todd Sibbin And The Acadian Driftwood release first single ‘Blame It On The Aeroplanes’

Todd Sibbin
Todd Sibbin is a true storyteller. Blending lyrical depth with modern melodic and production values he creates thought-provoking and insightful music packed with rootsy hooks.

Todd Sibbin and The Acadian Driftwood’s new single ‘Blame It On The Aeroplanes’ from the new 10-track LP, ‘A Set Of Knives, A Pair Of Pens’ is fuelled by personal experience. It was written when those around Todd began to move away. Trying to come to terms with the reasons of their leaving and the effect it had on his own thought processes provided the fodder for the single.

Interview with Jaska Raatikainen – Children of Bodom

CoBp

Ahead of their “HALO of BLOOD” Over Australia 2014 east coast tour, Children of Bodom drummer Jaska Raatikainen took time out for a chat.

Now that ‘Halo of Blood’ has been released for some time how does the album sit with you, in the scheme of your back catalogue?

Jaska: I think it is just normal and natural continuation for the band and sits just perfect to our back catalog. If thinking only music track by track there is maybe a little bigger variety between the songs on the new one. Meaning that we have perhaps the fastest and also the slowest ever song on the new release. And also a one very “rockish” song.

The album has a real clean, yet powerful sound, did the recording/production process for Halo of Blood differ from previous releases?

Since it’s release, “Year Of The Dog” has been receiving rave reviews with particular favor towards PHIL’S well-crafted songwriting. Noel Mengel from The Courier Mail described PHIL SMITH’S music as “a beautifully understated example of Americana songcraft.”

The original members of Veruca Salt, Nina Gordon, Louise Post, Steve Lack and Jim Shapiro recently announced an epic reunion tour that seems them playing their first shows together since 1998, and we are stoked to say Australia has been included in those plans which will see them here in September!

Born in Chicago in 1993 out of singer-songwriter-guitarists Louise Post and Nina Gordon’s desire for a dreamy-grunge band with influences like Big Star, My Bloody Valentine and the Pixies, they soon made the transition from cutesy pop upstarts to big league wet dream rock queens and became one of the most important bands of the 90’s in the process. Their sugary sweet vocal harmonies sat perfectly with their huge fuzzy rawk riffs and it sounded oh so good!
