|Prodigious, influential, boundary-pushing UK group STEREOLAB return to Australia after a six year hiatus to play two highly-anticipated side shows in Sydney and Melbourne, in addition to the national St Jerome’s Laneway Festival. Over the course of their 17-year history, the enviable, genre-shifting writing talents of Tim Ganes and the eloquent, elegant vocals of singer Laeticia Sadler have been honed to perfection, as evidenced on their 2008 release, Chemical Chords. At once experimental and crowd-pleasing, STEREOLAB have assured themselves a place in the in the indie-rock canon and are a live proposition not to be missed.|
“He is our Shelley; he is our Lord Byron!” – Bono
“Leonard Cohen was the first artist I discovered by myself. He is the symbol of my musical independence. The sadness of Cohen was inspiring; it gave me a lot of energy. I always remember all this when someone says that my records are morbid or depressing.” – Nick Cave
“I tell you who I also think is wonderful is a chap called Leonard Cohen. Do you know him? He’s remarkable. I mean, the orchestration is fantastic and the words, the lyrics and everything, he’s a remarkable man.” – Prince Charles
The Frontier Touring Company and Roundhouse Entertainment are honoured to present the legendary Mr Leonard Cohen in his first Australian concert tour in almost a quarter of a century. The tour will include a series of indoor arena concerts plus a day on the green winery shows.

Awaken from thy nightmarish faerytale and prepare for the violation of thy soul as the Lords of all the metal-goth-vampire disciples, the inimitable Cradle of Filth, descend upon Australian soil in 2009. Just Say Rock Productions, in bloodied unison with Roadrunner Records Australia, proudly presents the Australian leg of Cradle of Filth’s, Godspeed on the Devil’s Thunder tour in May 2009.
Conspicuously missing from our shores since 2000’s Midian tour, the highly successful extreme metal innovators from Suffolk, England will deliver their full theatrical rock show to Australian audiences who have been kept waiting in the depths of murky darkness for ‘ages’.
Good things come in nines…….
In July this year Primal Scream released their ninth studio album Welcome To Your Beautiful Future.
And when they return in February 2009, it will have been nine years since they graced Australian fans with their live presence. We are sure there is at least nine hundred ways to get excited about this!
With 26 years of music behind them, and a discography that holds some of the most critically acclaimed and important records of the modern era, Primal Scream have drawn descriptions as varied as noise terrorists to retro rock and even pop with their newest release.
Hailed as the ‘voice of a generation’, Mike Skinner’s The Streets are revered by music critics and fans alike. The first time people heard The Streets’ Mercury nominated album Original Pirate Material, they couldn’t decide on whether the person making the music was black or white, from London or the Midlands, deadly serious or a total joker.
These days The Mercury Prize winner and Brit Award nominee has been described as one of the most authentic voices of British youth for many years.
The Streets have made the cultural crossover from the small UK Garage music and pirate radio scene to the mainstream becoming equally as important to the charts as they are to the indie kids.
With a brand new album, Everything Is Borrowed (September 2008) tucked under their belts, The Streets return to Australia to tour in 2009.

In a rare move for the Australian market, Coldplay will go on-sale with two shows in each of the East Coast cities to ensure as many tickets as possible are made available to meet the demand that was set the last time they toured.
The Waifs Australian Tour With Special Guests Jez Mead/ Mama Kin
Last year The Waifs were part of the huge Union Of Soul WA tour with the John Butler Trio, this year they return to headline their own series of concerts over the summer. In WA they will be joined by America’s Independent sweetheart, Ani Di Franco and new WA act Mama Kin and for the rest of the country, old friend and fellow independent road warrior, Jez Mead.
The Waifs have been one of West Australia’s most loved and appreciated bands over their 20 year history. Building their fan base the hard way, playing every corner of the country, earning respect of peers and fans alike for their tenacity and drive to do things their own way.
From the back streets of sleepy towns in WA, to an internationally loved, multiple ARIA Award winning multiple platinum selling act, (their latest release Sun Dirt Water now about to go platinum), The Waifs have paved the way for Australian independent artists to be able to forge successful careers outside of the major label rules.
Since they last took to the stage on home soil, The Waifs have been busy touring through Europe and America to support the release of Sun Dirt Water.
Jez Mead will bring his raw, hypnotic folk blues to the stage, a well travelled journeyman on a quest to invite listeners to explore his sonic sensibilities and diverse guitar styles. Sun Dirt Water is in store now through Jarrah Records and MGM Distribution. www.thewaifs.com

The John Steel Singers have an aversion to sleeping in their own beds. They like the road. The rough, smelly, road. At least it seems that way. In support of their upcoming EP “The John Steel Singers: In Colour” out on November 1st through Levity®/Inertia, the Brisjanglians will be hitting the road again from November 7th up and down the East Coast of Australia.

Sometimes an album comes along that resonates. Something that sounds immediately relevant and is so unmistakably honest, that no matter your musical taste, there’s a deep founded respect and due reverence noted. Drum Media called it “a classic pop sense that doesn’t get bogged in its own vision of itself” (Aug 08). Rip It Up Magazine were straight to the point: “In an age of downloads and ringtones, Skipping Girl Vinegar stand out from the pack”.
Skipping Girl Vinegar are proud to announce the release of their debut album Sift The Noise. An alt acoustic saturation of melody and pop hook described by the band as ‘music from cold places’, Sift The Noise was recorded in living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and studios across Melbourne – as well as ‘The Lookout’, a beach shack in Aireys Inlet. The album was mixed and mastered in London, New York and Nashville by Adrian Bushby (Ben Kweller, Gomez, Foo Fighters), Greg Calibi (Bob Dylan, John Lennon, David Bowie) and Brad Jones (Josh Rouse, Bob Evans) respectively.
Take two of Australia’s finest new band’s shake n rotate and you have The Immaculate Confection tour.
Brisbane’s tasty effervescent Yves Klein Blue and Sydney’s sweet astutely pop The Holidays will be touring the nation throughout October.
Yves Klein Blue’s clashy blend of classic pop, old punk, polka inspired ditties and indie rock have been gracing the airwaves and live audiences throughout 2008 with the EP “YVES KLEIN BLUE DRAW ATTENTION TO THEMSELVES” released through Dew Process. They recently played SxSW and Splendour In The Grass and have supported international bands such as The Fratellis (UK) and Tokyo Police Club (Canada) as well as a heap of others. This will be their last tour before they release their much anticipated debut album next year.
The Holidays athemic pop singles “Holiday” and “Telephone” picked up international play from self-titled EP released early 2008 through Liberation and saw them touring throughout the year with international bands such as The Wombats (UK) and Light Speed Champion (US) and festival appearances at Playground Weekender and Come Together Festival. The Holidays will be releasing new EP in October.
This double headline tour will see both bands rotating with a local opening support in each city. Something this delicious can’t be missed.
Cupcakes and other baked goods may be making appearances at each venue for early bird gig lovers!
