Grammy Award-nominated rapper, actor and poet Mos Def has announced The Ecstatic Tour. His first ever headline tour of Australia, The Ecstatic Tour has been titled in support of his current album of the same name. Released June 09, ‘The Ecstatic’ (his 4th studio album to date) just earned Def a 2010 Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Album. Rolling Stone magazine named it the seventeenth best album of 2009.

That’s right, this fantastic initiative will not only shine a light on local artists, it also gives them the chance to secure a paid spot on the Sunset Sounds line up, along-side Interpol, Public Enemy, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Klaxons, The National and heaps more!

Hailing from Eel Pie Island, London, indie lads MYSTERY JETS have newly released their 3rd studio album Seratonin and it’s hot. After last years’ apocalyptic electrical storm there was a lot of speculation that PYRAMID ROCK FESTIVAL wouldn’t return to ring in the 2011 New Year. However, after the electrifying, but untimely display by Mother Nature described as a “once in a hundred year storm”, festival organisers have bunkered down to ensure that Pyramid 2010 has the capacity to deal with any out of the ordinary event.
Booking acts for Pyramid began early this year with artists from all over the globe showing their support for the festival, ensuring that this year Pyramid will undoubtedly be hosting its best line up to date with the first round of acts revealed on August 26. Drawing from the NGV ’s Collection of Australian Fashion and Textiles, Australian Made: 100 Years of Fashion will look at the rise fashion in Australia from the 1850s to 1950s. The exhibition will include some rare early examples of labelled garments from the mid 19th century and a range of dresses, tailored items and accessories that were made and retailed in Australia during this period.
Fashion has played a vital role in Australia since first European settlement. Whether reflecting status and position in a newly formed society, or exhibiting new found wealth and flamboyance, the language of fashion was of the utmost importance for the burgeoning Australian society.
