Currently on tour (November-December 2014) in support of his new album ‘Heartwood’, KARL S. WILLIAMS took time our for LifeMusicMedia…

:: What track changed your life ::

Dark Was The Night, Cold Was The Ground by Blind Willie Johnson. A wordless and primitive expression of pure beauty. It showed me that all artifice could be done away with and the song could be whittled to its core, transcending even language.

:: What is your favourite Album ::

Probably Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here. I have listened to it a million times and it always works.

Audio Interview | Max Bemis – Say Anything – Mental Health in the Music industry and more

Interview by John Howarth

Max Bemis is the is the lead singer, primary composer and primary lyricist of the band SAY ANYTHING, as well as a founding member. Bemis is undoubtedly a tortured genius. His struggle with Mental illness is well documented and certain episodes have been recorded in the media. He has become somewhat of an advocate for Mental Health and has worked hard to get his condition under control. A recent dad with another little one on the way, family life has helped in his recovery. His devotion to faith is another reason Max has his life well on track. Say Anything are definitely a unique outfit and with their latest album ‘Hebrews’ he dropped ALL guitars in preference to strings and the outcome was stunning.

Interview by Ben Hosking
Dream Theater
Post Progressive Metal masters Dream Theater are returning to Australia in October 2014 to perform a number of intimate shows and it’s with great pleasure that Life Music Media spoke with Dream Theater keybordist Jordan Rudess ahead of the tour.

With a career spanning 30 years, how does the band stay motivated?

It’s not hard, we love what we do. Music is our lives and what we think about pretty much all of the time so playing it together is fun and when we go out we play concerts which is really cool because the audiences are generally great and it keeps the fun alive.

Brisbane songstress Hannah Rosa has taken time out from her own Headline Tour of South East Queensland to answer a few questions for Life Music Media.

:: What track changed your life ::

:: What is your favourite Album ::

I actually don’t have one all-time favourite album! It changes all the time. My more recent faves include Megan Washington’s “There There”, Lucy Rose’s “Like I Used To” and Lorde’s “Pure Heroine”.

Your August tour to Australia will be your first to our shores in your 25 year history. Why so long?

I don’t know why so long, it’s just the way it happened. Our career trajectory has had a kind of difficult course and hasn’t always had the backing or focus that it needed to really achieve great things. I think it’s only in the last few years that these things have been in place.
