||Champion race driver Colin Bond got reacquainted with the car that was part of Australian motorsport’s most famous moment at the Armor All Gold Coast 600 at Surfers Paradise today.
For only the second time since 1977, Bond drove the #2 Ford Falcon XC that finished second in the Bathurst 1000 33 years ago behind team-mate Allan Moffat – a moment that will be re-enacted on Sunday.
Bond, along with 10 other Australian motor racing heroes, drove at the Surfers Paradise circuit in the first of three demonstration race sessions for the popular Pirtek Australian Legends category.

Tony Cochrane – V8 Supercars Australia Chairman – is on record saying that the Armor All Gold Coast 600 is the ‘party the Gold Coast has to have’, and that party officially started today.
Construction has begun on the famous Gold Coast street circuit some five weeks later than usual, a deliberate move to substantially decrease the build time of the shortened layout.
The first overhead bridge crossing the Gold Coast Highway was installed this morning, and proudly displays the catch phrase ‘Get the party started’ to Gold Coast travelers as the countdown to the October 22-24 event continues.

||Saturday’s first two 150km V8 Supercar races on the streets of Surfers Paradise did not disappoint today, with plenty of action on the streets of Surfers Paradise for the third day of the 2009 Nikon SuperGP.
Mark Winterbottom continued his blistering pace of yesterday by placing his #5 Orrcon Steel FPR Falcon on pole after the Top Ten Shootout this morning before taking victory in the opening 150km stanza, with the Holden Racing Team pair of Garth Tander and Will Davison in third.
