Live Review | Monster Magnet + King of the North + Arrowhead @ Hi-Fi Bar, Sydney – April 4, 2014

2014_MonsterMagnet_13-LTo say that we were a little concerned about Monster Magnet’s set upon reaching the HiFi Bar just as the doors were opening would be an understatement. Simply put, there was very little sign of life. Granted, it was a dismal evening with some drizzle and cold Autumn winds blowing through, but there was hot night of raucous rock and roll to be enjoyed inside.

Regardless, Sydney band Arrowhead opened the night’s festivities to an almost empty room, rocking out with an energetic mix of mid-paced stoner/desert/Sabbath vibes. The three-piece made a beautiful racket and the small crowd clearly appreciated their driving, grooving slabs of riffage.

Monster Magnet Announce 2014 Australian Tour Supports

KillRockStar Entertainment presents the 2014 Australian return of New Jersey stoner lords Monster Magnet!

Ahead of their upcoming Australian tour Monster Magnet have just named the full line up of local acts who will joining the space rock legends to blow minds across the country this April.

Main support in each city will come from two-piece hell raisers King Of The North. Since exploding onto the Melbourne music scene in early 2012 this guitar/drum duo have had punters and pundits alike raving about their massive sound and killer live shows. Pioneering the 3 from 1 guitar technique (making the sound of 2 guitars plus a bass guitar simultaneously from just one guitar), first timers are often left looking for the extra guitarists amidst the wall of sound. Add to the equation one of the most dynamic and solid drummers around and you have a rock n roll band like no other and one of the country’s most exciting new acts.
