Single Review: San Lazaro – “Dilo”

Review by JOSE EDUARDO CRUZ
Australian Latin band San Lazaro return with a brand new single DILO. After conquering Australia’s premier Latin event Clave Contra Clave in 2012 San Lazaro has capitalised on their success and released a killer track to cement themselves as Australia’s best original Latin band. DILO is the pilot track for their upcoming EP and if this is anything to go by the new material is set to turn the dance floor on fire. DILO translates as “Say it” or “Tell it” and the theme through the song is for people to say to the world or tell the world who they are without fear. The lyrics explain that the media and various other external things place people into neat boxes and DILO exclaims that we must express ourselves by using music, movement and anything that allows us to reclaim our lives.

San Lazaro has been absent from the stages for a while now, but after their victorious return in Clave Contra Clave things can only look up for this Melbourne based outfit. The band has made DILO available as a free download as a gift to their long-time fans and supporters. We all eagerly await the follow up to their first release Mestizo Urbano.
