Single Review: Nantes – “Drones”

Review by Helen Brown
Understated guitars and synth coupled with perfectly weighted vocals and harmonies make ‘Drones’ a solid third single from Sydney-based Nantes, and is an advanced taste of their debut album due in 2013.

First single ‘Fly’ launched Nantes from the obscurity of the masses of new artists on Triple J Unearthed to become part of the regular rotation of tracks on the airwaves in 2011, as did their second single ‘Satisfy’ earlier this year.

Lead singer David Rogers has produced some wistful alternative pop with his chilled, sedate voice that makes everything and everyone feel good. This song has a depth to it that needs a couple of listens before feeling the full effects.

If ‘Drones’ is a sign of things to come, bring on 2013.
