Philadelphia Grand Jury + Washington + Hungry Kids Of Hungary @ Valley Studios, Brisbane 10 April 2009 & more : April 2009 Tour

It’s a coincidence that three of the artists recently singled out by name-check geographical places in their titles; their position as some of the country’s best new talent is not. Handpicked by our national broadcaster to perform at the 2009 Big Day Out, rising stars PHILADELPHIA GRAND JURY, WASHINGTON and HUNGRY KIDS OF HUNGARY now join forces to present The International Relations tour.

Traversing the Eastern states in April 2009, the three bands will co-headline a tour that sees them perform in many places for the first time.

The tour culminates in a very special FREE gig at the Annandale Hotel in Sydney, recorded exclusively for triple j and filmed by triple j tv for later broadcast.

Quickly gaining recognition as Sydney’s best new live band, PHILADELPHIA GRAND JURY bring their rollicking, irresistible garage rock to the table. The inimitable trio’s first single ‘Going to The Casino’ is already a classic, while ‘Ready To Roll’ confirms The Philly Jays’ status as one of our most exciting new prospects. [Headlining NSW dates]
megan-pr-shot-high-a-383x300   Melbourne resident Megan Washington writes songs with a maturity that belies her 21 years. Classically trained and immeasurably talented, WASHINGTON has worked with some leading names in Australian jazz and indie music. Following the debut of her first single, the triple j and community radio-endorsed ‘Clementine’, and off the back of tours with Tim Finn and Camille, WASHINGTON’s brand of gorgeous folk-pop is sure to win hearts right around the country. [Headlining Vic dates]
Brisbane upstarts HUNGRY KIDS OF HUNGARY are purveyors of intelligent, decade-crossing songwriting. The track ‘Set it Right’ has been making its mark on the airwaves and anticipation for the band’s sophomore EP (due out in April) is high. Equal parts melancholy and joy, the accomplished foursome’s music is replete with unforgettable hooks and toe-tapping melodies that are a real treat live.
