Phil Smith Announces Album Tour For ‘Year Of The Dog’

PhilAll great music cities have rare treats that can be found in the underground. PHIL SMITH is one of those rare treats.

The new PHIL SMITH album “Year Of The Dog” is without an emotional filter. It is stripped bare on every level in the great tradition of albums like Nick Drake’s “Pink Moon” and Ryan Adam’s “Heartbreaker”.

Since it’s release, “Year Of The Dog” has been receiving rave reviews with particular favor towards PHIL’S well-crafted songwriting. Noel Mengel from The Courier Mail described PHIL SMITH’S music as “a beautifully understated example of Americana songcraft.”

PHIL SMITH will be touring his new album for the first time interstate throughout June. He will be playing shows all around the country including Tasmania, Victoria, NSW and the coast of QLD. He will also be showcasing the newest single from the album, El Corazon.

Phil spent his formative years as a transient soul sharing life with people that always seemed to be running away from something. These experiences shaped him as a songwriter.

“As you get older, and you start to learn first hand about death, and all it’s attendant misfortunes and unravelings, you get to realizing pretty quick that there ain’t nothing in this mean old world as important as your own flesh and blood.”

2013 was unquestionably a long, hard, lousy year for PHIL SMITH and ‘Year Of The Dog’ is it’s brutally honest musical journal. But inside, there will be unexpected pockets of song-writing sunshine, a glimpse into hope and a sweet appreciation of all the melancholy and mad moments.
