Paul McDermott walks The Dark Garden in Brisbane and Adelaide

Paul McDermott is back with a brand new show, The Dark Garden, and he’s bringing it to Brisbane and Adelaide for two special shows in both cities in January and February, 2014.

After travelling around the country with the fabulously successful “Paul Sings”, an anthology of Paul’s original songs collected from his numerous TV shows, Paul McDermott, the man for whom the term ‘Hardcore Cabaret’ was coined, returns to shake audiences up, push boundaries enthrall with seductively beautiful songs.

Focusing on love and loss, life and death, The Dark Garden is a suite of original songs counter-pointed by McDermott’s grotesque & wildly funny stories. The Dark Garden is a show from McDermott that runs the whole gamut of human feelings, and he manages a few animalistic ones as well. This is Paul McDermott – up close and personal: powerful, evocative and emotionally naked.

Set against the backdrop of his paintings, filled with the mega-fauna and bizarre flora that flourish in McDermott’s basement studio, this show is unlike anything Paul has done before, It is a show that finds beauty in the dark side of human expression and experience … and it is an absolute joy.

The Dark Garden, originally created for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, hits the road in Brisbane before returning to Paul’s hometown in February for the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

Did we mention that it’s a fun show too?! Paul McDermott has never been better.
