Following on from a swathe of praise for their releases so far this year, Norwegian folk duo Tuvaband are looking to cap off their 2017 with a brand new EP, being previewed by their latest single ‘Trees’.

Described as a social commentary of our self-destruction of the planet, ‘Trees’ is a rich and deep release from the pair. Mixing a strong folk-like arch to their already well-received lo-fi direction, the track aims to sway and swoon the listener with its lullaby-like performance, while continually reminding us of the precious waste we are lying to our own environment.

With comparisons to the likes of Laura Marling and The Staves, Tuvaband have regularly been named as one of the best new Scandinavian bands currently looking to dominate the UK’s music scene. And with songs like these, it is easy to see why so many have already fallen for their charm.

Speaking on the song the band said:
The song was recorded in two apartments across the Norwegian capital, Oslo, and captures the same stripped-back sound. Blending lo-fi production, vocal layering and reverb-drenched guitars which is synonymous with Tuvaband.

Trees and people have a lot in common, a lot more than we know. The single «Trees» is about the fact that we might also share the same faith if we keep on tearing down rainforests. As Tuva sings “We fell trees, we fell people. Cause when we fell, we fall”.

As always, Tuvaband plays on the contradictions, by making music that’s calmer, than what the lyrics suggest.
