twilightThe announcement of The Melbourne Zoo Twilights 2014 program towards the end of last year received a red hot response from music lovers with three shows selling out well ahead of the start of the season. Keeper talks at the Giraffe, Elephant, Wild Sea and Gorilla exhibits will take place before each show.

As with every Twilights season, all proceeds from the shows go towards the Zoo’s work to fight wildlife extinction. This year highlighting They’re Calling You – a campaign that aims to save gorillas in the wild through mobile phone recycling http://www.zoo.org.au/get-involved/act-for-wildlife/theyre-calling-on-you

One of the biggest threats to gorillas is the illegal mining of coltan, a mineral used in the production of mobile phones. Phone refurbishment helps lesson the demand for coltan mining in the gorilla habitat and raises funds for the Jane Goodall Institute to support Rangers protecting gorillas in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Melbourne Zoo Twilights is a fully licensed event, there are a number of food outlets within the Zoo serving delicious options from sit down dinners, to take away pizzas, snacks, coffee and deserts. You can also bring your own picnic, just no BYO alcohol or glass within the Zoo grounds.
