Live Review | Hot Chocolate at Wests New Lambton – October 15, 2014

Hot Chocolate @ Wests New Lambton

Sipping hot chocolate on a cold night is anyone’s idea of pleasure, watching one of the most successful bands of the 70’s play live is perhaps double this.

With a career spanning some 44 years and a huge catalogue of hits, Hot Chocolate entered the stage. Lead by relatively new singer Kennie Simon (Simon joined as lead vocals in 2010) and followed by original members Patrick Olive (Bass), Harvey Hinsley (guitarist) and Tony Connor (drummer), they opened the set with “Everyone’s a Winner”.

“Are you here to have fun?” Simon asked the crowd before moving into “Gave You My Heart” and following up with “Heaven Is In The Back Seat Of My Cadillac”

With so many classic hits, it was a sing-a-long fest with each getting louder.

“So You Win Again” to 1982 classic “It Started With A Kiss” and finishing with perhaps the bands best known song “You Sexy Thing”

In our opinion, the 14 song was not long enough but the audience did not seem to complain and left satisfied.

Hopefully the band will tour again on the back of these and more timeless classics. A very enjoyable night and stroll down memory lane.

Set list: Everyone’s A Winner, Gave You My Heart, Heaven Is In The Back Seat Of My Cadillac, Brother Louie, No Doubt About It, Emma, Could Have Been A Lady, Girl Crazy, Man To Man, Disco Queen, So You Win Again, It Started With A Kiss, You Sexy Thing,

Encore: Are You Getting Enough
