4 Things you should know about LACEY:

It’s uncomplicated. Only slightly weird. But mostly fun.
When you listen to ‘ROPES’, the debut EP from Perth natives LACEY, one of the first things you’ll notice is the band’s incredible penchant for writing sobering, incisive lyrics, phrased perfectly in the sweetest pop melodies. Their rhythms are tight and infections and their tones, soothing. The end result is a sound that unintentionally seductive, but defiantly addictive.
Formed in 2007, LACEY has very quickly established itself as one of the bands to watch on the Perth music scene. In 2009 the boys received national airplay on triple j for their first double single Hard To Tell/Whip, and were semi-finalists in the Western Australian Next Big Thing competition. In January 2010, their second single and first track from ‘ROPES’, ‘Distractions’, received airplay on triple j’s Home and Hosed and Richard Kingsmills’ 2010 show. On the live circuit they have established an impressive and loyal fan base, which has seen them headline 3 sell out shows at the Amplifier Bar in the past 12 months.
Now, LACEY has its sites sets on the rest of the nation. In a one week exclusive commencing on October 1, the band’s brand new video for AFRAID YET? will be featured in the MYSPACE ONES TO WATCH promotion. Then on October 8, LACEY releases ‘ROPES’ nationally through MGM.
In related news, LACEY front man Harry ‘Headband’ Livings recently participated in the triple j 5-A-Side Parklife Soccer challenge. Always the soccer enthusiast, Harry was an integral part of the Team J success. We were planning to auction the headband Harry wore during the match to the highest bidder, but unfortunately it was torn from his head straight after the match by a hoard of screaming teenage (but of legal age) girls. If you see Harry, please let him know we are looking for him.
