Kate Miller-Heidke’s first independent album release breaks Pledge Music record!

Last Friday (September 30, 2013) Kate Miller-Heidke announced that her 4th album, ‘O Vertigo!’, due for release in March next year, will be her first independently-released album. The singer-songwriter, renowned for her direct interaction with her fans, has used the direct-to-fan platform Pledge Music to launch a campaign to fund the recording of the album.

The campaign has broken records and achieved its target in 3 days, making it both the fastest and all-round most successful direct-to-fan campaign by an Australian artist to date.

Although the campaign has achieved and even exceeded its initial target, there are still lots of exciting perks on offer. With every pledge to Kate Miller-Heidke’s ‘O Vertigo!’ campaign, fans instantly receive a download of a free 11-track live album recorded on Kate’s extraordinary ‘Heavenly Sounds’ tour conducted earlier this year in churches and cathedrals around the country. All pledgers will also receive a download of the new album ‘O Vertigo!’ on release day, currently expected to be 14 March 2014.

In addition to the basic pledges which pre-order the album, and a huge variety of merchandise items and fan bundles, Kate is also offering some unique experiences, including your name in the liner notes, happy birthday phone calls, acoustic house gigs, and the chance to be on the guest list for every Kate Miller-Heidke show for life. One lucky fan can even pledge for her Wurlitzer piano, used to create all the new material for ‘O Vertigo!’. And now that the campaign is successful, Kate has added the opportunity for fans to visit the studio during recording, hear the tracks in progress, record hand-claps for a new song, and be credited as a performer on the album.

In addition to funding the recording of the album, 5% of everything raised will go to the WWF (World Wildlife Fund for Nature) to support their work to save the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef.

To celebrate the success of the campaign, the ‘O Vertigo!’ album tour dates are being announced today. Kate will be touring capital cities in March-April 2014, performing brand new songs from ‘O Vertigo!’, old favourites, and a few special requests from fans who have helped make the album a reality through the Pledge site. The shows are all-ages (although under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the Brisbane show). Accompanying Kate will be long-term collaborator Keir Nuttall on guitar, along with musical freak-genius John Rodgers on violin and piano.

There are still a few VIP tickets available through the Pledge page, which offer VIP seating and a meet & greet with Kate before the show. Regular tickets will be available through the outlets listed below.

Further updates, bonus tracks and video updates from the studio will continue to roll out as the ‘O Vertigo!’ pledge project continues. To check out what Kate is up to and what’s up for grabs, go to http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/katemillerheidke
