Following the release of the ethereal ‘Kintsukuroi’ music video, Melbourne’s Kate Martin today announces local supports for her ‘Kintsukuroi’ single launch shows in Melbourne and Sydney – also her first live shows in two years. ‘Kintsukuroi’ is the first insight into Kate Martin’s forthcoming LP Set My Life To Fire, due out this year, and the first release of new music since the 2013 single ‘Awaken’.

Kate Martin plays Brighton Up Bar on Thursday May 26 and The Workers Club on Friday June 10. Tickets are on sale now via the venues.

In Sydney, Kate Martin will be joined by “Sydney’s answer to the soulful Solange” (Pilerats) – producer and singer Tashka and folk-soul songwriter Ed Wells, whose powerful voice and piano skills has seen praises flow through from both locally and internationally. Sharing the stage in Melbourne, mellow-pop trio Stonefox will bring their ambient and minimalistic sounds to life, together with dark electronic singer Aeora (formerly Aura).

On ‘Kintsukuroi’, Kate Martin creates a tapestry of multi-layered guitar loops in her signature finger-picking style blended with Tabla percussion and textures, while exploring the concept in itself – ‘Kintsukuroi’ is the name of the Japanese art for “golden repair,” where shattered ceramics mended with gold are perceived as being more beautiful for having been broken. The atmosphere around ‘Kintsukuroi’ is one that is contemporary and timeless, with the video showcasing Kate’s guitar style with fluid movements against ever-changing lighting.

‘Kintsukuroi’ is the first taste of new music from Kate Martin’s forthcoming LP, Set My Life To Fire due Autumn 2016.
