Jason Mraz Returns to Australia in April – Tour Announcement

jasonmrazpromo Jason Mraz might just apply for residency when he returns to our country in April – some say Australian’s can’t get enough of Jason Mraz, or is it Jason Mraz that just can’t get enough of Australia? Maybe it’s just one big love fest.

To the delight of his fans, old and new, the San Diego singer-songwriter, garnering rave reviews around the world for his incredible live show is due to visit Australia this Easter, but this time with a handful of Grammy nominations, a number 3 single and platinum album under his belt.

This will be Jason Mraz’s sixth tour of Australia, and his profile and fan base has never been bigger thanks to the enormous success of the single “I’m Yours” from the platinum album “We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things”. He’s come solo, duo, trio, four piece and 8 piece, and played everywhere from intimate cabaret dinner shows, to festival main stages, but this will most certainly be his biggest tour yet.

Mraz and his seven-piece super band will play headline shows on Tuesday 14 April at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Wednesday 15 April and Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on Monday 20 April.

Mraz will also return to Bluesfest Byron Bay for it’s 20th Anniversary event, helping to close the festival on Monday 13 April, and then perform at the West Coast Blues & Roots Festival on Saturday 18 April.

If that isn’t enough to whet your appetite, Mr. AZ will also play a one off show in Adelaide’s Bonython Park with Australia’s favourite girl, Missy Higgins. The night aptly titled “Music In The Park with MISSY HIGGINS, JASON MRAZ and guests” will be the pair’s only co-headline show and it will be Mraz’s first visit to Adelaide since 2006.

Joining Mraz on his headline dates will be fellow Californian singer songwriter Eric Hutchinson who’s soon to be mega-hit “Rock & Roll”, from the album “Sounds Like This” was recently listed as the Most Added track to Australian radio, and will only get bigger once Australians tune in to hear it as part of the next season of Channel 7’s “Packed to the Rafters”. To soften the male influence on the tour bus for the East Coast run will be the sweet sounds of teen folk singer songwriter Lisa Mitchell. Lisa’s single Neapolitan Dreams reached no. 1 on the Australian iTunes chart and made a place in the 2009 Triple J Hottest 100 Countdown.

Tickets for “Music In The Park with MISSY HIGGINS, JASON MRAZ and guests” and all headline shows will go on sale at 9am, Thursday 19 February.

Since his last visit to Australia, Mraz’s status has exploded thanks to his world-wide smash single ‘I’m Yours’. The song peaked at number 3 in the ARIA charts and earned him two prestigious US Grammy nominations for “Song Of The Year” and “Best Male Pop Vocal Performance”. “I’m Yours” can now be found in thousands of user-generated videos from more than 25 countries, and has clocked up more than 60 million views on YouTube.

The song was a fan favourite for many years before it was officially released thanks to Mraz’s open “boot legging” policy at shows, but it became an Australian household tune in 2008 as millions of unknowing TV viewers listened in and tapped their feet as they watched ‘Packed To The Rafters’.

The Grammy nominated album “We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things”, Mraz’s third studio release, has already sold over 110,000 copies and came in as the number 10 highest selling album of 2008. It is his first set of all-new material in nearly three years and was produced by Martin Terefe, known for his work with KT Tunstall, Ron Sexsmith, and James Morrison. Among the highlights are collaborations with British tunesmith James Morrison, and the romantic new single “Lucky”, a duet performed with singer/songwriter Colbie Caillat.

‘We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things.’, the 2CD/DVD Expanded Edition includes the album, 3 previously unreleased EP’s, a 20-page booklet with complete lyrics and additional artwork, and a full band live DVD. This will no doubt become a collector’s item; it’s available from March 6 for a limited time only.

Every show completely sold out on his last tour, there is no doubt that the anticipated return of Jason Mraz and band will bring the biggest gigs of the Easter Season. Tickets go on sale on Thursday 19 February; get in quickly to get yours.
