Returning for its 8th year in 2013, Island Vibe Festival retains its reputation as the finest reggae, soul and dub event in not just Australia, but the entire South Pacific, and this year, it does so with some very exciting programming considerations.
Partnering with iconic outdoor arts and electronic festival Earth Frequency to curate a new and exciting program, as Island Vibe director, Morgyn Quinn explains; “Rather than rehashing the same acts that we all expect to see on the Australian festival circuit, this year we gone to great lengths to focus in on bringing out a exquisite selection of international acts that have never toured Australia before. We want the Island Vibe audience to be the first to experience them.”
As such, Island Vibe Festival organisers are super excited to be bringing out the already announced NYC dancehall phenomenon ELECTRIC PUNANNY (NYC), European reggae queen MC SOOM T (UK), international dub and dubstep hero’s J STAR (UK), DUB TERMINATOR (NZ), ILL GATES (US), Jamaican soul sister SILVA MC (JAM), SOULWARE (NZ), ORGANIKISMNESS (NZ) and Chili’s own JAH RED LION (CHI).
Providing the ying to the international yang, Island Vibe 2013 has now announced a second round line-up that pulls together some of the best local and Australian roots and reggae acts around, including: Kingfisha, Dubmarine, Bobby Alu, Darky Roots, Die Rude, Oka, Clare Quinn, newcomers Bandawalla Moons and Alice Spring’s rockers Bat Hazzard.
2nd announce additions to Earth Frequency’s Bamboo Bass stage include home grown electronic big hitters Midium, Griff, Dakini, Liam Niko and Drew-Id who join the already announced Sticky Fingers, Chocolate Strings, The Bennies & Goosebumpsz.

With a strong eco and cultural focus, Island Vibe is held at the magnificent beachside location of Point Lookout, Stradbroke Island – or Minjerribah as it is known to the Quandamooka people indigenous to the region.
Island Vibe spans 3 glorious spring days at the end of the whale migration season and plays host to over 50 bands, DJs, dance and circus acts from around Australia, the Pacific and all over the world. It’s a festival with a beach holiday thrown in, or a beach holiday with a festival thrown in, either way you look at it though it’s 3 beautiful days of good vibes, tunes, food and dance.
