Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Hozier is set to delight audiences when he makes his Australian touring debut in 2015.
At only 24 years of age, he accumulated a strong underground following through Spotify, You Tube and radio success, gathering momentum and rapidly burgeoning into international stardom.
Produced by Rob Kirwan (U2, Depeche Mode, Glasvegas, Ray Lamontagne), his 2013 debut EP, ‘Take Me to Church’ went No 1 on the Irish iTunes chart, No 2 in the official singles charts, No 3 on the US Billboard charts, the hit title track has been nominated for Song of the Year at the 2015 Grammys® and has accrued over 92 million views on YouTube, hitting #1 on Hype Machine as well as Billboard’s Top New Artist Heatseekers Chart.
Since then, with a second EP From Eden and the 2014 release of his debut self-titled LP, tastemakers and critics have wholeheartedly embraced his spirited and soulful sound. Locally, the album has hit #3 on the iTunes Chart and #5 on the ARIA charts. Take Me to Church is now certified double platinum, reaching #2 on the ARIA singles charts, #1 on the iTunes chart, and at present is the #1 most played track in the country across all major commercial radio networks.
His seemingly overnight success comes from true talent. His poetic way with words is a blessing (for us) as much as his susceptibility to romance, and romantic dreaming, sounds like a curse (for him). His live performance is raw and captivating.
