Laneway Presents and Penny Drop have announced details of GRIMES’ Laneway Festival sideshows.

After selling out both her Sydney and Melbourne sideshows in record time, Laneway Presents and Penny Drop are excited to announce that, due to overwhelming demand, GRIMES’ only Sydney show has been upgraded to the Enmore Theatre.

Grimes’ only Melbourne sideshow is completely sold out, which means the only chance to see her in Melbourne will be at Laneway Festival.

Back down under for the first time since 2012, Grimes will be toting her hugely anticipated new album Art Angels. The first single from that album, ‘Flesh Without Blood’ dropped overnight and was premiered on triple j this morning.

GRIMES’ last album (and the first via indie giants 4AD) Visions gave us some of the most edgy, exciting and addictive music of the last decade. A truly boundary-pushing artist who refuses to be categorised, Grimes has surprised fans and critics at every turn. Don’t miss these special shows.

“A new kind of pop auteur” – The New Yorker

“With a wildly creative and often subversive aesthetic, she’s created some of the most unique records and videos of the decade, drawing from easily recognisable and esoteric styles to create an ultra-modern audio-visual amalgam” – Dazed

Grimes will be supported by emerging American artist HANA. Hana’s debut track “Clay“ – co-produced by Blood Diamonds’ Michael Diamond – and captivating follow-up ‘Avalanche’ were released earlier in the year and she quickly went from complete obscurity to becoming one of the most buzz-worthy, up-and-coming artists around.

Opening for Grimes exclusively in Sydney is exciting new talent LUPA J. Since making the transition from classically trained violinist to contemporary electronic producer and songwriter at the tender age of 15, Lupa J has captured the attention of fans and tastemakers around the world with her alluring brand of left-field pop.

Lupa J will be joining emerging American artist HANA on the bill, who will be suppporting Grimes at both her Sydney and Melbourne shows.

A NOTE FOR SYDNEY TICKET HOLDERS

All Metro Theatre tickets remain valid for the new venue, and will allow access to the General Admission Dance Floor area. Current ticket holders are just required to turn up on the night with their Metro Theatre tickets in hand.
