Known as the “fluffy” comic in a Hawaiian shirt, the 37-year old American born to Mexican parents, funny man often riffs about his girthy middle, whether it’s talking about how little dancing it takes for him to work up a sweat at the nightclub, or how hearing his girlfriend coo the words “chocolate cake” over the telephone works for him like phone sex, he evokes laughter. His many YouTube clips have had well over half a billion hits! Gabriel’s Australian fan base has exploded since he first toured Australia in 2011. He now returns for a national tour in September in some of the biggest venues in Australia!!!
Gabriel Iglesias has been described as unbelievably witty, electrifying and as a talented performer who has the ability to consistently deliver a uniquely hilarious comedy experience –from start to finish – in every venue he performs in. Born in Chula Vista, California, Gabriel Iglesias is the youngest of six children, raised by a single mother. Growing up, the family lived in Section 8, low-income housing in the city of Long Beach. It was during his childhood that he developed a strong sense of humor to deal with the obstacles he faced.
In 1997, he set out to hone his comedic skills and started performing stand-up anywhere he could find an audience including biker bars and “hole in the wall” joints. As a young boy, he never could have foreseen the incredible success he has experienced. His is an American success story, coming from very humble beginnings and achieved through determination and years of hard work. Today, Iglesias is one of America’s most successful stand-up comedians and he performs year-round in sold-out concerts across the United States and Internationally.
On July 11, 2014 Iglesias will release his highly anticipated stand-up comedy film, The Fluffy Movie, theatrically. Gabriel can currently be seen co-starring opposite Marlon Wayans in the comedy feature A Haunted House 2. Later this year Gabriel will begin production on the highly anticipated sequel to the box office hit Magic Mike. Produced by Iron Horse Entertainment, Magic Mike XXL will be released in cinemas mid 2015. Gabriel will be reprising his role as Tobias, the DJ alongside stars Matthew McConaughey and Channing Tatum.
In April 2013 Comedy Central premiered Gabriel Iglesias: Aloha Fluffy in an unprecedented two-night comedy special. The hit special is currently available on DVD and digital download from iTunes. It follows in the footsteps of his highly successful first two DVD specials, Hot & Fluffy and I’m Not Fat…I’m Fluffy. Gabriel has sold a combined total of nearly 2 million DVDs.
