Ten Australian Artists set to join superstars Billy Joel and Van Halen for the Stadium Event of the Summer!
Following the recent announcement of Billy Joel (Sunday 21 April) and Van Halen (Saturday, 20 April) being confirmed to headline the inaugural STONE Music Festival to be held over two days at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium, Ardline Media Group and Platinum Entertainment are pleased to announce some of Australia’s best and most loved artists are joining the line-up, the likes of which has never been seen before!
STONE Music Festival will be an EPIC, once-in-a-lifetime, two full day super-concerts featuring 12 hours of music each day on one massive main stage, culminating in the ultimate superstar headliners Billy Joel and Van Halen playing full 90 minute sets and a catalogue of smash hits!
STONE Music Festival is a concert event in an outdoor stadium environment giving music fans the best of all worlds – sensational music from superstar headliners renowned for their massive, supercharged stadium shows and with the freedom of stadium all area tickets where you can move around, sing and dance on the field or sit back, relax and enjoy the music in the stands.
With tickets as low as $159.50 per day, music fans will be able to enjoy 12 hours of music daily on one main stage so you don’t miss a beat of your favourite band, stadium quality lighting and sound production, a multitude of giant screens, easy public transport to and from the venue, onsite parking, comfortable amenities, quality food stalls, fan centres, product displays and much, much more. This is going to be two days that Sydney will never forget!

Undoubtedly one of Australia’s most cherished and successful performers, Jimmy Barnes need no introduction. Celebrating a career spanning 40 years, Jimmy Barnes has left an indelible mark on the Australian music landscape with his unmistakeable gravel toned voice and his no holds barred performance style. Inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame as both frontman for one of the country’s most enduring rock bands, Cold Chisel, and for his solo career, and with a songbook full of chart topping singles and albums, Jimmy, not one to rest on his laurels, continues to astound audiences with his blistering live shows. The original Working Class Man joins Van Halen on the line up to the Saturday, 20 April instalment of STONE Music Festival.
Since their inception in 1994 and their rise to fame after the release of their debut single, Prisoner of Society, which went on to become the highest selling Australian single of the decade, The Living End have enjoyed phenomenal success and acclaim with the release of six chart topping studio albums (including State of Emergency, White Noise and The Ending Is Just the Beginning Repeating) a string of top 40 singles, a swag of ARIA Awards and a log book of sell out headline tours around the country. The Melbourne 3 piece are set to bring their energetic punk rock to the STONE Music Festival stage on Saturday 20 April.
With top charting anthems like Love Somebody, Welcome to the World, Take Me Back and Burning Feeling all spawned from their 1986 self-titled debut album Noiseworks made music fans sit up and listen. They not only played sell-out live shows of their own, working their way rapidly up from intimate showcase gigs to massive stadium crowds, but also shared the limelight with international headliners such as Bon Jovi and Paul Young. Noiseworks other massive hits include the haunting Touch, the steamy Hot Chilli Woman and classics like Freedom and Miles and Miles to name a few. Now 20 years after the band first called it a day, they are back together in the studio working on a new album and together on stage doing what they do best at STONE Music Festival’s Saturday showcase.
Ian Moss is undeniably one of the country’s most respected musicians and widely regarded as Australia’s best guitarist. Launching his career with Aussie rock legends Cold Chisel, Moss established himself as not only a gifted axeman but also a soulful vocalist and an enigmatic songwriter. After Cold Chisel disbanded in the early 80’s Moss went on a hiatus before relaunching his career as a solo artist later that decade, and quickly emulated the success of his earlier years with his debut single, Tucker’s Daughter, reaching No. 1 on the charts and the follow up, Telephone Booth, also a Top 10 hit. Seven solo albums later, several reunions with Cold Chisel and with a cache of awards and critical acclaim, Ian Moss remains one of the most revered musicians this country has produced and we are honoured he will be joining the Saturday night line up at STONE Music Festival 2013.
South Australia’s own The Superjesus will also be playing at the two day super concerts alongside Van Halen and Kings of Chaos on Saturday, 20 April. The Superjesus formed in 1994 and in 1997 picked up two ARIA Awards for Best New Band and Best Debut Single for Shut My Eyes with their 2000 album Jet Age featuring their biggest hit, Gravity. The band went on indefinite hiatus in 2004 to pursue individual projects and this performance at STONE Music Festival will be the band’s first Sydney show in more than 10 years. Lead singer, Sarah McLeod stated that The Superjesus have long tried to get back together to perform for their fans, but work and geographical barriers stood in the way. Well, it’s been a long time between drinks and STONE Music Festival are thrilled that the barriers are down and The Superjesus have chosen to join them for the concert event of 2013!
The iconic Choirboys are an essential part of our Australian culture having penned one of Australia’s unofficial anthems Run to Paradise. With other great Aussie rock hits such as Boys Will Be Boys, Struggle Town and Never Gonna Die, Choirboys epitomise the essence of the Australian pub-culture are viewed by many as the quintessential Australian rock band. Choirboys have been entertaining the young and old for 30 years, surviving when so many others have fallen and STONE Music Festival are pleased to welcome them to the stage on Saturday, 20 April.

To say that the last twelve months has been an incredible ride for ICEHOUSE would be a massive understatement. In 2012 the iconic Australian band that has sold millions of albums domestically and internationally, reignited passions amongst existing fans, and in the process collected a new audience of younger followers along the way, while celebrating the anniversaries of their ground breaking Primitive Man and Man of Colours albums. ICEHOUSE own the soundtrack to a generation with tracks like Can’t Help Myself, We Can Get Together, Love in Motion, Hey Little Girl, Electric Blue and Crazy as well as the unofficial Australian anthem, Great Southern Land. Since his introduction to Australian audiences via our television screens as the first ever winner of Australian Idol, Guy Sebastian has developed into one of the country’s most successful performers. He has released seven albums which peaked in the top six of the ARIA Charts, including two which reached No. 1. He has also released 11 Top 10 singles, including six number ones and three other Top 15 singles and has 42 platinum and three gold certifications in Australia and is the only Australian male artist in Australian chart history to achieve six number one singles. Guy’s recent collaboration with rap superstar Lupe Fiasco, Battle Scars, not only reached No. 1 and achieved 8 times platinum status in Australia but also made an impact on the American charts reaching No. 73 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and No. 23 on the Billboard Digital Song Chart. With his soulful style Guy Sebastian is the perfect complement to the line up on Sunday’s edition of STONE Music Festival.
With a career spanning 25 years, 35 singles, 13 albums, 6 ARIA awards and record sales edging 1 million Diesel remains one of the country’s best known performers. Diesel first made his mark as lead singer of Johnny Diesel & The Injectors in the late eighties before forging a solo career that produced top selling singles Love Junk, Come To Me, Tip Of My Tongue, Man Alive and One More Time. In 1996 Diesel also began performing under his given name, Mark Lizotte and he has continued successfully making music and touring the country. The gifted guitarist and singer brings his unique swagger to the STONE Music Festival stage on Sunday 21 April.
Mark Seymour is the voice behind the anthems of a generation and STONE Music Festival are honoured to have him join the line up on Sunday, 21 April. Forming Hunters & Collectors in 1980, the band went on to release one of the most important and enduring records of the eighties with Human Frailty together with the hit songs Do You See What I See?, Throw Your Arms Around Me, When the River Runs Dry and Say Goodbye. Mark left the Hunters & Collectors to embark on a solo career and discovered a new and refreshing intensity in his voice and performances continuing his search for the emotional truth in a song. Mark Seymour is a singer, songwriter, author and a legendary performer who remains undiminished despite the ever-present shadow of the band he used to be in.
Shannon Noll first made his mark on the music scene in 2003 on the debut season of Australian Idol series. The Aussie battler from the small town of Condobolin in central western New South Wales struck a chord with Australian audiences with his honest and heartfelt rock sensibility and finished runner-up to fellow STONE Music Festival alumni, Guy Sebastian. Noll has since experienced great success with five Top 10 albums That’s What I’m Talking About in 2004 and Lift in 2005 were both No. 1 multi-platinum sellers with seven of his singles reaching the top 5, including three No. 1s. We are pleased to have Shannon Noll join us on Sunday at STONE Music Festival.
By the age 18 Dallas Frasca was on the road, channelling all the sass and irreverence of Chrissie Amphlett and Suze Demarchi. Armed with power and torque, her stand out voice didn’t take long to get noticed and in 2006, she won triple j’s Light Your Fuse competition from over 500 entries. From there her career exploded winning the 2010 ‘Artist of the Year’ at the MusicOz Awards and her debut album, Not for Love or Money, being voted in the Top 10 Best Roots releases on triple j in 2009. Her tribal and stomping roots performances have earned her a large, loyal fan base as a hard working independent juggernaut who is carving her own path, both in Australia and internationally. The new album, Sound Painter, is filled with huge slabs of guitar riffage, skin slamming drums and heavy and soulful vocals and STONE Music Festival are pleased to welcome Dallas and her band to share the stage with Billy Joel on Sunday, 21 April.
Somewhere in the realm of contemporary acoustic roots music lie the songs of singer/songwriter and guitarist Mark Moroney. His signature blend of finger style guitar and soulful vocals have the power to affect one on a deep level with influences stemming from American folk music, blues, jazz and pop. Arts critic Mike Netman from The Bay Chronicle wrote, “Tender, passionate, emotive and full of glorious phrasing – out of this world”. Born in Warwick, New South Wales, Mark honed his skills as a musician and songwriter performing in a variety of bands and musical styles, including roots, folk, jazz and blues. Along the way he has supported artists such as Renee Geyer, Katie Noonan, Jeff Lang, James Reyne and The Black Sorrows. STONE Music Festival takes its name and its attitude from the iconic 1974 classic flick, STONE. The film is a cult classic and the timing of the Festival serves as a timely reminder of our fallen veterans in the lead up to ANZAC Day. STONE Music Festival will pay homage to our fallen heroes by celebrating mateship, brotherhood and all things that make this country great while creating a brand new Aussie ANZAC tradition.
With a new contemporary motion picture production of STONE already in development, we’ll be giving Festival goers the chance to see where it all began with a special 2013 Director’s Cut screening of the original cult classic film each day.
