Florence and the Machine – extra shows for Sydney + Melbourne

Florence + The Machine is without a doubt one of the hottest acts touring Australia this year, with tickets for her Sydney and Melbourne Splendour In The Grass side shows selling out in no time, and a Perth sell out is imminent.

When the August side show concert dates went on sale just ten days ago, tickets for Melbourne’s Festival Hall show were exhausted in less than 30 minutes. Sydney went on sale with two Enmore Theatres at 9:00am, sold out, and within 10 minutes, a third show was announced. That too sold out within minutes of going on sale at 9:30am.

Florence Welch is a clearly woman in demand, and co-promoters Chugg Entertainment, Lunatic Entertainment and Thirteenth Touring have spent the past week in discussions with her management team, looking for ways and means to answer the pleas of the fans that missed out. The great news for Sydney and Melbourne fans was confirmed late last week.

One final show for Sydney will take place at the Hordern Pavilion on Sunday 8th August, and a second and final show for Melbourne, at Festival Hall on Monday 2nd August. Tickets for these two shows will go on sale at 9am on Tuesday 8th June, along with a handful of additional seats that will be released for the currently sold out Festival Hall show.

The requests for more shows came from across the East Coast as well as from a passionate group of fans that started an online petition, lobbying for a show in their hometown of Adelaide. Unfortunately Florence, who was humbled by the incredible response to these shows, was unable to extend her stay to add an Adelaide performance following her final show in Perth, but has committed to visiting South Australia on her next tour.

“I’m so excited to be coming back to Australia, and when I heard the news of these shows selling out so quickly I couldn’t believe it. My Australian fans are amazing. I heard about the petitions in Adelaide too, which is so lovely. I wish I could have stayed longer to play there but sadly I have other commitments which mean that I have to leave straight after the show in Perth. I’ll make sure I play Adelaide next time I tour Australia.” Welch said.

There will be no further shows for Florence’s 2010 tours once these tickets have been snapped up, so set your watches for 9am, Tuesday 8th June, you don’t want to be a second late.
