Festival News: The Caxton Street Seafood & Wine Festival 2012

Queensland’s biggest street party turns 18 on May 6th 2012!

Welcome to a Queensland tradition – The Caxton Street Seafood & Wine Festival. After a successful 2011, this year’s festival is set to raise the bar even higher with a fantastic selection of seafood, a tantalising array of wines, an incredible line up of performing artists from across the country, and of course over 15,000 of your fun loving family and friends!

Located in the heart of Brisbane, Caxton Street delivers a selection of culinary delights and vibrant nights along a precinct that is truly one of Brisbane’s historical treasures, adding to a cultural affair that is not long forgotten. There is only one Caxton Street!

For the food lover, sample your favourite seafood classics at any of the outside stalls conveniently located across the street; or for a more gourmet experience, make your way into any of Caxton Streets famous restaurants to indulge in an abundance of Moreton Bay bugs, lobsters, prawns, oysters, fish, crabs and calamari to name a few; while an extensive range of superb wines makes for an impressive accompaniment to any dish served on the street.

For the music lover, 2012’s line up is the finest yet, catering for even the most eclectic of tastes. This year’s event will feature Australian music royalty Boom Crash Opera and fellow stalwarts 1927, Cold Chisel’s founding and current member Don Walker, Jazz diva & Euroglider Grace Knight and Mixed Nuts (Feat. Chris Black from The Searchers). Young tyros and Big Day Out specialists Calling All Cars, the internationally acclaimed DJ/ Producer DCup (We Speak No Americano) and the mysterious 4antom Playerz make a welcome entrance onto the street; two of the precincts favourite sons Kram (Spiderbait) and Ash Grunwald are back with their Blues, Roots & Rock’n’Roll amalgamation in KRASH!; while Byron Bay Blues specialist Mason Rack returns.

Caxton Street also welcomes some of the South East’s finest young acts including Triple J favourites The Jungle Giants, The Cairo’s, Electric Horse, and acoustically brilliant Shannon Watkins.

A-List DJ and festival specialist Charlie Hustle, NZ’s dance queen Disko Diva and local boy DJ Jonny Leighton will feature prominently on this year’s new stage, while DJ Butcher will keep the street party going long into the night and round out an impressive first line up of artists at the Caxton Street Seafood & Wine Festival for 2012!

Caxton Street will celebrate its 18th festival by donating part proceeds from every ticket pre-sold to The Wesley Hospital Kim Walters Choices program; come and support your local community and join the Caxton Street family in 2012!
