Festival News: Goulburn Valley Country Festival – April 2022

With little over a month to go until the highly anticipated Goulburn Valley Country Festival, organisers have announced the final release of tickets for the April event. Headlined by Lee Kernaghan, with Brad Cox, Casey Barnes, Felicity Urquhart, Andrew Swift and The Davidson Brothers, plus many more incredible artists, the inaugural festival promises to be a jam-packed day of country fun. To get music fans ready for the day, organisers have also confirmed the playing times, with the gates opening at 11am, an official Welcome To Country at 11.30am and live music commencing from 11.40am. The music will continue all day with Lee Kernaghan taking the stage at 8pm to wrap-up the evening.

Run by Red Hill Entertainment – brothers Aidan and Rhett McLaren – the festival is the sister of the popular Gippsland Country Music Festival. For Aidan, it is about celebrating all things country and the local Goulburn Valley region. “We’ll have some great local food and drink offerings, as well as the Goulburn Valley Country Music Showcase, which will see four local artists perform on the big stage. These four acts are all incredibly talented and were selected from over 50 applicants. In addition to the music, there will also be rides, whip-cracking demonstrations, line dancing classes and heaps more. The day will be all-round good times for everyone.” The winners of the Goulburn Valley Country Music Showcase are Jade Gibson, JB & Me, Kane Vincent and Madi Walker.

With final release ticket announced this week, organisers are excited by the buzz being generated for the festival. “The support so far for Goulburn Valley Country Music Festival has been sensational,” says Aidan. “After such a challenging 12-months for the live music and events industry, to have people show this level of support for a new event is just wonderful. We can’t wait for the show itself., and to see so many people back having a great time together. I think it’s also going to be really special for the artists. For many of them, this will be one of – if not the – first shows they’ve played in over a year. We feel very lucky and grateful and can’t wait to celebrate all things country with everyone.”

Picking the Goulburn Valley for the festival was an easy decision for organisers. They are no strangers to putting on events in the region and feel a real affinity with the area. Their hope is to drive more people into the region, showcasing everything it has to offer and supporting the local area. “For those from greater Melbourne and outside of the Goulburn Valley, be prepared to fall in,” says Aidan. “Our ticketing and attendee data shows that a lot of people are travelling from outside of the area to attend. The knock-on effects of this to local business is immense as many of these people will be staying overnight in Shepparton, and most likely exploring some of the amazing places the region has to offer. The event itself also engages many local contractors and businesses. It is also a chance for the community to connect with each other and share an enjoyable day out with family and friends of all ages. After the last two years we’ve all had, I think that’s really important and something we are all looking forward to.”
