Queensland Government Community Cabinet Meeting
Following a well-established Ekka tradition, the Queensland Government Cabinet will meet at 10:30am at the Brisbane Showgrounds today.
Man versus horse – Who is the strongest? (map reference: 08)
In the ultimate test of strength, four burly Queensland firefighters from the popular Firefighters Calendar will pit themselves against a two Belgian horse team in the inaugural Ekka tug of war. Witness this exciting spectacle in the Energex Community Arena from 12:15pm.
We like to moo-ve it (map reference: I5)
The first big judging day for dairy cattle gets underway featuring the Illawarra, Holstein-Friesian and Jersey breeds taking the stand in the first of the major competitions. Don’t miss all the action down in Competition Park from 1pm.
Over the brick wall (map reference: O8)
The Ekka record will be tested in the showjumping puissance competition at 3:30pm today – a skill competition in the equestrian sport of showjumping where the horses are tested on height and spread obstacles. With the highest Ekka jump currently sitting at 7 foot – will there be a new ground record holder today?

Sam Powers Illusionist – it’s all in the name. Sam powers his way through one of the most enthralling illusion shows you will ever see. In addition to his immense skill, Sam possesses a strong physical presence that is more Hollywood than Vegas. See Sam onstage at the CommBank Auditorium at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm.
