Darling James, Dan Parsons, Louis Spoils announce one-off Brisbane show

Darling James- Dan Parsons - Louis Spoils
It’s no secret that many Bris-based creatives often head south but sometimes, if we’re lucky, they come back, undoubtedly for the weather. Five former residents entangled within projects Darling James, Dan Parsons and Louis Spoils are all making the trek to warmer environs and playing Black Bear Lodge Sunday, August 10 for one very special evening of observational rock, retro-lution folk and prog-tinged indie pop.

Darling James is fronted by James O’Brien, long time song-writer, singer and bassist in successful Brisbane/Melbourne group The Boat People. Enjoying a strong following in the Brunswick (VIC) pub scene Darling James also features the talents of Tom Baker, former multi-instrumentalist in Brisbane/Melbourne art-pop spruikers Flamingo Crash, and Zac Rush, a heady guitar talent who cut his teeth in Brisbane rockers Little Red Light and neo-folkies Cascadeer.

Doubling up for the evening is Darling James’ drummer Dan Parsons, a prodigious song-writing talent and in-demand multi-instrumental session musician. Dan Parsons will be performing his take on 70’s soaked country pop featuring tracks from his recent much-lauded self-titled album.

First up on the bill is Louis Spoils (aka Jake Rush), former front man for Brisbane pop outfit Jake Rush and the Bad Habits performing his brand of classic, angular song-writing.

Join these fine musicians, pale from the long southern winter as they take the tram from Greenslopes to the valley for your listening pleasure.
