THE TING TINGS announce headline Melbourne & Sydney shows for July 2010

Sensational British pop duo The Ting Tings will be bringing their bright, bold melodies and catchy riffs to Melbourne and Sydney audiences for two exclusive headline performances this July.

The Grammy nominated outfit comprises of Jules de Martino on drums and Katie White on guitar and vocals. With an abundance of personality reflected in their brash lyrics and energetic tunes, The Ting Tings have been a strong presence in the pop realm since their irresistible 2008 debut album We Started Nothing.

The album propelled The Ting Tings to international fame with ‘That’s Not My Name’ and ‘Great DJ’ – wonderfully infectious singles crafted around no-nonsense chants that demanded attention from the very first listen.

The Ting Tings are arguably best experienced live, to which many concert goers can attest. Along with numerous international headline shows, the band has previously played at Big Day Out and will add this year’s Splendour In The Grass to their extensive tour list.

One of the best things about this band is witnessing how much they’re clearly enjoying themselves making all this noise – Katie grinning broadly at Jules as she thrashes out her bare chords. Their kickass way with a simple pop tune doesn’t hurt, either, but uncomplicated as the music is, there’s no doubt, watching them, how much they mean it. – NME

It’s no secret that everyone wants a piece of The Ting Tings this winter. Tickets to both headline shows will be highly sought after so jump on it.

Frontier Members pre-sale begins Thursday 3 June at 12 noon AEST. General public on-sale available from Tuesday 8 June, 9am local time.

MIIKE SNOW exclusive Melbourne & Sydney headline shows this winter

The Frontier Touring Company announced international indie-pop heroes Miike Snow will be performing headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney this August.

The band has been widely acclaimed for their songwriting finesse – which comes as no surprise due to the musical experience of all three members.

Two of them, Swedish duo Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, have previously written and produced under the handle of Bloodshy & Avant, cranking out hits for artists such as Kylie Minogue, Madonna and Britney Spears – for whom they wrote and produced smash hit ‘Toxic’ and won a Grammy for their efforts.

Rounding out the phenomenal trio is US songwriter Andrew Wyatt, widely known for his wordsmith abilities as a gifted lyricist. Their self-titled debut in 2009 included the epic ‘Silvia’ and vibrant radio hit ‘Animal’ and showcased their combined talents in an explosion of catchy melodies and compositional depth.

‘Karlsson and Winnberg have focused their talent and energy on catchy-yet-intelligent and often challenging pop songs. And, crucially, they’ve hooked up with American lyricist/vocalist Andrew Wyatt. Not only do Wyatt’s words add a sharp lyricism to the beats, but his smooth, expressive, charismatic voice gives them soul.’ – popmatters.com

Following the album’s release, Miike Snow have since toured with multiple sold out shows and gained both an underground, word-of-mouth following as well as attracting massive crowds at some of the largest music festivals including South by Southwest and Coachella.

‘When tickets go on sale for Miike Snow, don’t even blink…Vocals were sharp and the energy of the band on stage gave a surge to the energy of the crowd…As most of the crowd left covered in sweat from dancing like it might be their last chance, it was hard to deny that Miike Snow passed the live music test.’ – Examiner.com

Consider yourself warned – tickets go on sale Friday 4 June, 9am local time. Frontier Members have access to a Members’ pre-sale from Wednesday 2 June, 12 noon AEST to Thursday 3 June, 12 noon AEST.

The Drums – Australian Headline Shows August 2010

Dubbed ‘New York’s official coolest new band’ by NME, The Drums have heralded a return to the simplicity of the mind-invading catchiness unique to good, solid, guitar-pop songs. “We love the 1950s,” they say, “it was the beginning of basic pop music. They did it from scratch and pulled these amazing, timeless melodies out of thin air.” And The Drums’, with their New Order-style trebly, melodic bass, Ventures-esque guitar songs about surfing, do exactly that.

On stage their infectious energy manifests as near-lunacy, the band playing their chirpy, whistle stopstart ditties with breathtaking mania. It’s no wonder that after only a year of living in NYC The Drums’ concerts became a weekly dance-party attended religiously by even the most cynical of music fans.
