|If you favour metal in its most primal form, then prepare yourself, because this line-up is what you’ve been waiting for. Soulfly will team up with City of Fire and Incite for a triple International tour of the nation, starting September 7.
Most bands slow down with age – not Soulfly. More than 10 years since their self-titled debut album became a genre classic (and achieved Gold sales), they’re back, and they’re bringing their brutal heavy metal assault to the masses, showcasing their seventh album, Omen. Led by former Sepultura frontman, Max Cavalera, Soulfly have become an even fiercer, fierier and more furious metallic monster.
Well known for their collaborations with up and coming talent, Soulfly will share top billing with Vancouver five piece, City of Fire, featuring members from Fear Factory and Strapping Young Lad – Burton C Bell, Byron Stroud and Jed Simon.
Sydney’s ART vs SCIENCE have crammed the kind of heady ascent experienced by the luckiest of bands into a timeline that belies their few short years. From regional pubs to national festivals to…trains, the three-piece have built a massive following on the basis of two simple abiding principles:
In doing so they’ve become a live powerhouse; selling out shows, ascending to festival favourites the nation over, staying up all night and sometimes right into the morning and regularly arresting the eyes and ears of all who witness their peculiar brand of madness. Or as one international headliner recently squeezed: “how am I supposed to follow that?” Continue reading ART vs SCIENCE Announce New Single and Tour – Aug/Sep 2010

|The stratospheric rise of PARAMORE has been swift and shows no signs of abating.
Announcing themselves in 2007 to an ever growing legion of fans with the brilliant, ‘Riot’, PARAMORE have registered one conquest after the next: selling out shows across the globe, gracing almost every Alternative/Rock magazine, “Artist of the Year” list and even earned themselves a Grammy nomination for ‘Best New Artist’.
Melbourne melodicists Little Red have delivered the first single, ‘Rock It’, from their highly anticipated second album – and the response has been overwhelming. Premiered on Triple J’s breakfast show at the end of last week, the song has been on repeat rotation over recent days and has instantly received an official rotation add from the station.
Taken from the as-yet-untitled sophomore album (due out this September on Liberation Records), the song marks a cleaner, more hi-fi sound that was brought to life in collaboration with producer Scott Horscroft (The Temper Trap, The Presets, Silverchair). ‘Rock It’ is party music of the best kind: warm, infectious, straightforward and unadorned. It is the sound of a band moving even further toward a sound entirely their own, blurring their influences as they do the decades of classic pop they draw from.
Meanwhile, the band has announced a return to the live arena with a series of Rock It single launches around the country throughout July, culminating with a prime slot at the massive Splendour in the Grass festival. The lads have been one of the country’s most loved live acts ever since their emergence of a few years back, and it is standard practice that these shows will be a non-stop party of energy, huge melodies and good times. Fans will also hear the band premiering a selection of brilliant new songs from the forthcoming album. Tickets are sure to go quickly, so don’t hesitate.
The band’s next immediate step is London as they jet off to the UK this weekend to perform at next week’s Musexpo conference in London, as well as performing additional showcases over the following week. Their debut Listen to Little Red, a Top 30 hit at home, also received critical acclaim in the UK and anticipation is certainly high for these return shows.
‘Rock It’ the new single is OUT NOW on iTunes via Liberation Music.

|Here it is, the official first line-up announcement for Parklife 2010. We’ve mentioned it before, but it’s their tenth birthday this year, and it looks like the celebrations are set to go off with a bang. As promised, there are quite a few surprises on the roster of artists announced so far, with organisers paying closer attention to the more indie/alternative-inspired musical tastes of their punters, as well as packing in a whole bunch of more traditionally Parklife-y electro and hip hop acts.|
|One of Australia’s most heralded live acts return for their first shows since their record-breaking touring expedition a year ago which saw them run riot with over 20,000 fans across the country. Bliss N Eso’s infamous live shows built the foundation of their massive following and have propelled them to their current status as one of Australia’s biggest acts.
Since the release of their ARIA Award winning album, Flying Colours, the skyrocketing Sydney-siders have graced some of Australia’s biggest festivals (Homebake, Pyramid Rock, Splendour in the Grass), and became the sole hip-hop act billed on the historic Sound Relief concert in “what many are stating was the performance of the day” (Beat Magazine).
|New Jersey quintet SENSES FAIL are set to tour Australia this August 2010, fresh out of the studio with producer Brian McTernan (Thrice, Circa Survive). The band’s long-awaited return will happen nearly 7 years after their first visit when they performed on the Taste of Chaos tour.
Senses Fail will be performing songs from their entire catalog, including their most recent Vagrant Records release ‘Life is Not a Waiting Room’, which came out in October of 2008.
7 Australian dates, 5 eager members, and a brand new live DVD scheduled to hit stores later in the year (details to come); this tour will lively demonstrate all of the passion and fury the post-hardcore band is renown for serving.
